I voted for Flash Elorde.

boxrec.com has voted the following:

The greatest lightweight ever: Roberto Duran
The greatest welterweight ever: Sugar Ray Robinson
The greatest jr. welterweight ever: Aaron Pryor
The greatest middleweight ever: Carlos Monzon

Now, who is the greatest jr. lightweight fighter ever? Make your votes and comments.

Personally this is where I think Mayweather shines. People always compare him with great welters but I think at super feather he was a monster . He had all of the same defensive skills plus power and he was even faster.

It's difficult to rate because of the weight-jumping that goes on around those weights. Could it be argued that Super Featherweight wasn't even the best weight class of the majority of the above fighters'?

Very hard to say either way.

Chavez was a machine at 130lbs but it wasn't his best fighting weight; a bout between Chavez and Azumah Nelson would have been X rated.

I think it's between Alexis and Chavez, they were skilled, determined, tough and hit very hard.

I'm going to have to agree.Floyd was just unreal at 130.
I would pick him head to head against all the above fighters.

I think the great Floyd Mayweather, Jr would have beaten all the guys above. He was inhis best weight class at 130lbs. A fight between him and the greats like Alexis Arguello or Julio Cesar Chavez, wouldbe terrific. I could see Floyd winning both fights, truly. But I do not think he was the best fighter at that weight class, all time. That should belong to Flash Elorde or Arguello. But, I do believe that Pretty Boy Floyd is without question a top 5 at 130lbs ever.

Boxrec.com forum voted for the great Aaron Pryor in a poll a year ago as the best fivhter ever at 140lbs. Someone find that topic or thread, please.

I also believe that he was the best ever at that weight class. He was awesome. I also believe thathe belongs in the list of the top 100 greatest fighters pound per pound, truly.

Hector would have taken some beating at Jnr lightweight as well, he was like lightning and didn't stop moving.

Telling Buzz that Pryor was an alltime great was like telling Granberry that Ali was an alltime great.

With weigh in times i don't think Floyd would have made 130 in the days of Elorde.

I can't stand Floyd for starving the sport and ducking people but i can't deny his ability. Though he doesn't take the fights that the other great fighters did, it still doesn't mean that he wouldn't win those fights. Let's be honest, if Floyd took the Manny fight 4 years ago when Manny was knocking everyone out, smart money would have been on Floyd for an easy decision.

I know that the question is "greatest" and how can you be considered the greatest if you haven't fought worthy contenders? If i'm using the eye test, it's Floyd. If you look at the quality of opposition then I really can't put Floyd on that list. So i guess i'd need to know the criteria that we should be considering.

If Canzoneri had made 130 for his wins over Kid Chocolate then he would stand a real chance at this one.

This is a very hard question. After reviewing their resumes, it's hard to pick a clear winner. Mayweather is the most naturally gifted, but his resume doesn't seem on par with a number of others. Elorde and Arguello are strong competitiors as well. Tough one, but I am going with Nelson. His resume looks the strongest.

I picked Flash Elorde because he revived the weight class in the 60s. It was a dormant division for years until he came. He held the World Jr. Lightweight Crown for 7 years (1960-67).

Which champ had the most defences at Jr Lightweight, was never beaten when holding the title, and retired as champ?

Why doesn't he make that list?
