Vegas - 2nd May

Post by forcefraser »

Never been to Vegas to watch a fight, but I have tons of air miles that I need to get rid off, so am thinking of booking flights on points and getting over there with a mate for the first weekend in May. There is always a big fight on that weekend and it is likely to be Cotto v Canelo or Mayweather v someone, or perhaps both.

Question is, how easy is it to get hold of tickets for these big fights and what should I expect to pay?

Anyone know of a decent centrally located hotel that doesn`t break the bank and allows hookers to come and go as we please?

Any advice welcome.

First time, I've ever seen the bookies making odds on Pac vs Mayweather with a CONCRETE date - it is usually 31st Dec.

If you fancy it, it might be the best May weekend to go to Vegas in years.

New York New York is a good hotel for Brits - they have some decent bars which is rare for vegas

Plus, it's just across road from MGM and is cheap

Although if May-Pac comes off it will be almost impossible to get the 'cheap' i.e. under $500 tickets. Unless you're mates with Al Haymon.

I went to the Guererro fight a couple of years ago, was an amazing experience. I stayed in the MGM and if you can i would stay there as there is loads of fight week stuff going on.

The tickets for his last couple of fights started at about $350ish but it is nearly impossible to get those tickets. I got $600 ones, think the equivilant are $800 now. They shouldnt be too hard to get depending on if it is Manny or not.

Any other advice let me know, i will try and help.

I went to Mayweather Vs. Maidana II.

We stayed in the MGM, it was good there, rooms were fine and there was a decent atmosphere in the casino. We went over to Bellagio etc. Wasnt my scene there, a bit stuck up.

We got the second cheapest tickets ($600), was really haqrd to get them, three of us online at 6 p.m. on the dot. Only I managed to get five tickets together, might be easier if theres less of you. The cheapest ($350) were gone instantly. The view wasnt great, we were gith at the top for $600, I'd go the next price up.

I think IF Mayweather fights Pac, he will double the ticket prices. If you watch anyone but Mayweather, I think the tickets are a lot cheaper. Im pretty sure one of Canelos fights the chepaest tickets were around $60, rather than Mayweathers $350!!!

Its a good experience, Vegas isnt as mad as its made out to be, but its defo somewhere youve got to go to.

Hopefully it will be Cotto v Canelo. I could get much better seats for the same price as a bad seat for Mayweather. Not too fussed about Mayweather to be honest.

Booked the flights now, so I`ll be there regardless of who is fighting. Can`t wait.

If and that is a big IF. Floyd fights Pacquiao you will not get a nose bleed seat for less than $1500.
