Nathan Cleverley v Juergen Braemar

Post by BillyTKid »

According to sky these two are fighting on newly announced Leeds bill in April. Didn't see that one coming. Good luck to Nathan back at his proper weight.

SKY are wrong. According to Matchroom Twitter feed he isn't fighting Braemer: "@NathanClev returns to action in the Light Heavyweight division as he targets WBA champ Jurgen Braehmer." Eddie Tweeted: "victory should secure World title shot in Autumn."

Clev's fighting back at Light Heavy (probably against a bum) on the Leeds card with a view to targeting Braemar in the future.

Why would they put Cleverly v Braemar on the undercard of intertoto title fight.

Clev getting looked after by Eddie due to the Bellew fight farce; bust his right hand close to the fight, wanted to pull out but Hearn offered him extra cash and a chance to rebuild and get a world title shot at light heavy if he went through with the fight anyway.

No way Braemer travels to the UK to defend against Cleverly, particularly when he is coming off a loss.
It'll be an eliminator against a journeyman then Cleverly will no doubt travel to Germany later on in the year to challenge for Braemers belt.

so Clevs fighting TBA at LHW on the undercard of Warrington and looking towards Braehmer in future but sky are incorrectly reporting they are fighting each other on this card.

Imagine oif that was a W-a-r-r-e-n bill and B-o-x-n-a-t-i-o-n were doing the same. Conspiracy theories galore!

Odd he's moving to a weight he said he really struggled with.

If you aren't struggling at the weight you aren't fighting at the right weight.

I'd like to see Nathan go in against the Braehmer's, Cloud's and Campillo's of the world. There good intriguing and winnable fights for him, and would set him up nicely to become a better fighter.

He may have struggled at 175, but he clearly struggled a lot more at 200lbs

If Cleverley does fight Braehmer and gets the win - can see Hopkins vs Cleverly late in 2015.

Sky Sport News is a pain in the arse,i was well chuffed when i seen this fight was made when i gather its not

This fight should have happened a few years ago but assuming Cleverly's crap performance in the Bellew rematch was due to the hand injury then it's still a good match up

Braehmer's still a wily pro and knows how to frustrate opponents but if Nathan fights at the relentless pace he used to at LHW then he can outwork him

Clev is a good LHW. He's not on Stevenson or Kovalev's level but looking through the rankings I could see him working his way into the top five.

Same here. Hopkins seems to want to continue, he'd get another title shot of some sort, and I suspect that he'd be very confident that he'd beat Clev.

Clev struggled big time at cruiser it's just a massive jump up from light heavy, the struggle at light heavy probably wasn't as bad as it was for him at cruiser

Did he actually do Cruiser "wrong" though. Its not often you here a boxer cite moving his own now heavier body mass around for 36 minutes was the reason why he was fatigued.

Clev said post fight "ideally" he is between Light Heavy and Cruiser, I cannot help but ask myself why didn't he come in at that weight then?

Remember Oscar fought at Middle vs Sturm, came in on the limit and looked sluggish. Against Bhop, he looked a lot sharper (although lost) at a weight between Light Middle and Middle. I wonder why Clev didn't do the same, why he didn't come in at like 185/190. Yes, he might have been outstrengthed by Bellew, but at least he wouldn't be complaining about carrying his own weight around.

And I do wonder how those extra 10 lbs of muscle are going to play up when losing the weight.

Personally, think he cannot take defeats very well and has to make excuses - remember he was dead at Light Heavy and twice the fighter are cruiserweight 24 hours before admitting he is no Cruiserwight. It's not as if he grew into the weight gradually, first fight at the weight was at close to the limit.

Personally I don't think he was struggling to make light heavy to be honest, I think getting smashed by kovalev and knowing the division got Stevenson aswell he probably thought if he goes to cruiser there won't be as much hard fights at world level for him than there was if he stayed light heavy, he should never of moved up to cruiser

Going to be a hell of a job to lose 24 lbs of muscle (cos he is hardly butterbean) in 4 months. Roy Jones was never the same.

Good job it is not muscle then isnt it. No trained human being on this planet could gain 24lb of muscle (without the use of pharmaceutical assistance)

He is not a butterbean but it was not muscle either. It was just a well fed, non drained, full and hydrated body,
