Matchroom 11-04-15

Post by Parson Cross »

This could be a crackin night in Leeds.
Warrington tops the bill and can sell tickets like hot cakes and Maxi Hughes gets his rematch with Ward.

Bit disappointed with Warrington's opponent, would have liked to have seen him defend his belts once or twice before going down the 'eliminator' route

They're following the same route as Selby, they'll keep up the opponents like this if Selby beats Gradovich, then stick the two in with each other and hope Warrington wins.

I was thinking the same,Selby fought an eliminator for the WBC before going down the IBF route,no way Eddie would put Warrington in with Gonzalez if he didnt with Selby

I would have preferred Josh to hang about European level and got some experience,he's done excellent to win 3 titles in his last 4 fights but they dont need to rush him

Tubieron is "capable" of an upset but tends to fail...good wins over Doliguez and Shiino though nothing else of note (and both of those guys he beat were over-rated punchers)

Warrington is still a young guy so would have like to have seen him defend his British title!

How is it a WBC eliminator when Josh's opponent isn't in their rankings ?

I actually thought that before he got the European tite shot,he already held both British and Commonwealth titles so he would have had options,he was great against Davide Dieli when he won the European but Dieli's not even European class i doubt

Its just something Matchroom seem to prefer,he(Eddie) doesnt mind his fighters fighting for titles but they rarely defend them before he has them in some sort of eliminator

Has Eddie ever had a fighter win a lonsdale outright? He's had dozens of fighters in eliminators recently and kudos for him getting his stable oppurtunities but whats the rush with people like Warrington,Gavin McDonnell,Callum Smith etc, world title eliminators after 15 fights?

He'd be better making sure his men are ready before fighting at world level

Not Eddie's fighter is he?

If they actually had 3-4 winnable fringe world level fights i wouldn't care about not defending the British/Commonwealth titles, its the fact that its usually a case of they are in against an overmatched global opponent that bugs me more than anything. They learn nothing about themselves in order to develop and get no questions asked.

Callum smith's last fight i will give him a pass for as on paper it was ideal, more match making of a similar standard for these guys and i wont moan so much as hopefully it will free up the national titles for the small hall guys to get a chance at.

Much prefer to see him in some great domestic dust-ups and build a much greater fan base! Try him in a defence outside Leeds to see how he coped with the pressure. Hearns just seeing the £ in Leeds, as much as Warrington has impressed me there is still alot of unanswered questions needing asked before trying world level (even tho this doesnt look like a test for him)

How can this be an eliminator ? Staggering. Warrington is rated 12 by the WBC and his opponent isn't in the top 20 ! Eddie Hearn please stop miss selling fights it's embarrassing.

It's a miss sell because a World title eliminator is being contested between two guys who haven't beaten anyone in the WBC top 20. Warrington wins easy - what will happen next do you think ? Warrington against Gonzalez for the title in Vegas ? Doubt it.

Eliminators r about progressing up the rankings. Its not a final eliminator to force a mandatory position.

So this is an eliminator but not a final eliminator ? What does the winner get out of it in terms of his ranking ?

The winner gets a shot at the guy who got a shot at the guy who got a shot at the guy who got a shot at the guy who got a shot at the title.

Hearn seems to not like giving non matchroom british fighters paydays and would rather bring in some duffer from south america. Look who ryder is fighting next.....why not spike or etches? Why didn't clev or bellew fight askins or macenzie instead or 2 south americans no one had heard of in that horrific liverpool show

i agree with your statement 100%

I like watching fights myself where I know the two fighters
I could not give a fcuk about the imported south americans with their padded records
hearn was meant to get macklins recent opponent for ryder

Also why not make clev vs ajsafe instead of matching them separately? Cue another south ameican that no one give a fcuk about with a padded record.
