I know that it's a lame choice but GGG's power is ridiculous. Just take a look at the Rubio fight from October and take a look at the slow motion shot of that last punch to the top of Rubio's head. You can actually see Rubio's skull getting caved in, in slow motion. I've never seen anything like that. Rubio was a chump but he's a Mexican fighter with a hell of a chin and that really was a statement in my mind.

Rubio generally showed solid durability going into that fight: he was never in danger of being stopped by Chavez, took a beating against Pavlik for several rounds but didn't go down, and handled Lemieux's punches well. He was hit plenty in many other bouts between the Jantuah loss and the GGG loss, but I don't believe he was ever in serious trouble and I think there's a very strong case that he's more durable than anyone Wilder fought.

It's also interesting to me that you'd say the Rubio KO means nothing because Rubio had been stopped more quickly by another opponent (which means you're doubting his durability), while listing Wilder as hands down the best puncher in the sport despite him feasting on opponents who haven't shown much durability and/or were greatly undersized and hence probably not suited for taking HW punches. If the KO of Rubio means nothing, what do Wilder's KOs over people like Marlon Hayes, Damon McCreary, Daniel Cota, Nicolai Firtha, Kelvin Price, Jesse Oltmanns, and Audley Harrison mean?

Perhaps you'll say they mean nothing but point to Wilder's wins over shot Liakhovich and Scott, but to continue with GGG as the other side of the comparison, what about his heavy KO of Ishida, who hasn't been stopped in 9 other losses? What about GGG's KO of Macklin, who went 11 with Martinez and has never been stopped earlier than the 10th aside from his blowout loss to GGG? Wlad's also stopped many high-level opponents who hadn't been stopped before or hadn't been stopped as heavily, so to me it's definitely not clear that Wilder is the hardest puncher P4P or even in absolute terms.

In my mind, I often split fighters into 2 categories, guys with one punch concussive power, guys like Wilder, Haye, Stevenson who try to get the 1 big bomb in there to take an opponent out and guys with power in every shot, who can hurt you with a jab a short left hook, shots to the body, every shot can carry power.

I tend to mentally pigeon hole GGG into the latter category but the truth is he should probably top the list of 1 punch power as well, just a ferocious puncher

yeah. he just stands normal and kos somebody with 1 punch. imagine how hard his punches would be if he put all his weight into, full swing...
I take it you disagree with my post?

no, i aggree with your post.

=) i just added something, that i felt, that ggg is so powerful that he even put all his body into the punch. sometimes he only stands infront the opponent knocks him out or does it how u said it while countering. that shows how special his power is, if it is already that powerful, without him puting in the last 5 % and that is swing and move everything into the punch, for example like valero did, he put everything into it.

yeah i understand your style of category. but at the end for me there is only 1 category and thats "special power" category. because i do believe ones you have special rare power, you can do both, hurt with every punch and ko with 1. abraham has an tremendous powerful jab and when he uppercuts or swing a wild hook, he 1 punch kos you. same goes for thurman etc......for me there is not seperation.

but after rethinking there is some truth toyour methode. pavlik in my view didnt have 1 punch ko power, but dude was super strong and his punches hurt.

JMM will never make my list. I refuse to acknowledge someone that is a known Juicehead. It's the same as loading your gloves in my opinion. Why don't you put Marguarito on your list as well then?

A known juicehead? He offered to take any tests that Manny would be required to take before their last fight. Then Manny's team dropped the request. People cry about Manny being falsely accused. Give JMM the same pass for never failing a test.

Don't fight. They were both juiceheads, as most of the other top level athletes.

I get you :TU: it may be that he's a natural hitter like Julian Jackson though his technique looks really refined,it wouldn't surprise me a lot if he scores a heavy knockdown/KO while he's moving backwards.

juice wont make a weak puncher a strong one. either you got power or not, marquez got power. why should i put somebody on my list "todays biggest punchers" who did not box since 2011?

Wladimir Klitschko deserves an honourable mention after that bomb of a left hook that he took Kubrat Pulev out with.

I would have actually said that Wlad's overhand right is definitely up there (when he does commit to it and put all his momentum in it).

The heaviest punchers in all of boxing are Klitschko and Stiverne.

I think this will be apparent this coming weekend.

The way Wladimir destroyed Pulev was super impressive.

Lower down, I would say Stevenson.

All 3 have demonstrated one punch KO power against top level fighters.

As demonstrated when he took Alex Leapai out.
