Sorry...what a load of codswallop from Hyland. Warrington is fighting someone who has fought outside of his homeland in 3 of his last 11 bouts, having fought in Japan, South Africa and Australia...I understand he's not a good opponent but some of us need to realise how geography works...

And on the flipside of that point, why does it matter where some fights? Are we pretending that only the UK, Germany and US are worth fighting in?


Would also be interesting to know which "journeyman" beat him? Borg (at the time a touted Aussie prospect), Shiino (who entered the bout ranked around the same as Warrington is now by the WBC) or Lubabalo Msuthu (not a world beater but also not a journeyman).

Don't get me wrong, I'd have preferred Hyland Vs Warrington but but it'd be nice to see factually accurate statements.

Warrington is still a young guy so would have like to have seen him defend his British title!

I actually thought that before he got the European tite shot,he already held both British and Commonwealth titles so he would have had options,he was great against Davide Dieli when he won the European but Dieli's not even European class i doubt

Its just something Matchroom seem to prefer,he(Eddie) doesnt mind his fighters fighting for titles but they rarely defend them before he has them in some sort of eliminator

Has Eddie ever had a fighter win a lonsdale outright? He's had dozens of fighters in eliminators recently and kudos for him getting his stable oppurtunities but whats the rush with people like Warrington,Gavin McDonnell,Callum Smith etc,world title eliminators after 15 fights?

He'd be better making sure his men are ready before fighting at world level

Much prefer to see him in some great domestic dust-ups and build a much greater fan base! Try him in a defence outside Leeds to see how he coped with the pressure. Hearns just seeing the £ in Leeds, as much as Warrington has impressed me there is still alot of unanswered questions needing asked before trying world level (even tho this doesnt look like a test for him)

Fighting away from home wont faze josh he came to the midlands to fight an unbeaten fighter for the english title before matchroom jumped on the bang wagon. He bought between 70 -100 fans with him.

Not literally around the corner, no, but only an hour or so in a car.
He seemed to have alot more fans that night than the so called 'home' fighter.
I think that with his large and growing fanbase he will have to travel alot further than 60-70 miles to feel like the away fighter.
Not that it's a bad thing, most fighters would kill for that kind of support.

He is a good young fighter with a bright future, I just hope matchroom don't waste his potential on easy showcase fights that rack up the ticket sales whilst avoiding tougher opponents and thus stunting his development

Anyone who generates a buzz in british boxing gets my support. Really good time for that part of the country too. Josh in Leeds, Campbell in Hull. I'll hopefully get up north soon to watch one of them live.
