Don't worry about how it happened,
if it means he will start fighting again that's a good thing

Sounds like Goosen Promotions was paid handsomely to let him go, which means we can expect him to fight a lot more frequently than he used to do before the contract stalemate, as he will have to recoup whatever amount they paid to Goosen Promotions to let him walk away.

Why would Ward sign with a startup?

Boxing politics make it difficult for new promotions to stage big events. More specifically, he won't be able to fight anyone under Haymon, so there goes a potential Ward/Dirrell matchup, among others.

I'm seriously thinking about taking a long break from boxing.

I know that al haymon and jay z despise one another but im going to hold out hope that it turns into a rivalry instead of this cold war that we've been accustomed to.

Established fighters like Ward aren't forced to pay back the buyout $ when one promoter poaches/saves them from another.
(It may very well even be illegal to force them to.)
That was simply the high cost Roc chose to pay in order to promote Ward. You gotta pay to play.

If Jay Z is a "boring" rapper point me in the direction of an exciting or good rapper.

Like you damn euros know a thing about good rappers.

I dont like modern rap at all. But to say Jay Z isnt good is just silly. He's one of the very very few who are any good.

At least Andre's decision doesn't rule out fights against himself Gennady Golovkin or Sergey Kovalev (assuming Roc Nation can worth with K2, Main Events and HBO).
The only guy in the above list anyone would really care to see anyway would be Andre Dirrell and that wont happen anyway since they are good friends so it's whatever.

I'm curious to see what matchups they can get for him. There aren't exactly a lot of compelling possibilities right now.

2014 seemed like a really boring year for boxing.

If 2015 is as bad then I might give it a rest for a while as well.

i'm an old boy from Queens ... but I love me some country music, especially David Allen Coe (even the racist joke stuff). You need to open your mind a little. You might find something that you really like.

... I'm asking an old Texan to have an open mind

I've heard HUNDREDS of rappers just as good as Jay-Z. His lyrics are not anything special. In fact, I had a bunch of friends in high school with notebooks full of rhymes that would put anything Jay-Z made after his second album to shame. Even if you're foolish enough to think he dominated modern rap, he did so during the weakest period of rap's history. So he's more of a Wlad or even Marciano than an Ali.

So I don't know what makes him so good. Popularity? Money? Mainstream success? When will people stop being entertained by rich people talking about a lifestyle they'll never have? ... cough ... CC that to any idiot who owns a TMT t-shirt ...

I can't believe one of Goosen's last acts on Earth was to try and keep Andre Ward. If I were is promoter, I'd have paid him to leave. Don't get me wrong. He is a good, but if he isn't one of the least boring fighter's in history , I don't know who is. I'll never watch one of his fights ever again. He wasn't missed.

If it's legit and Andre Ward back on the scene is kind of a big deal.
