Re: Ward v Golovkin
I'd favour Ward something like 65/35 over Golovkin. Like fergusg said Ward seems to have more tools at his disposal, though we haven't seen anywhere near where Golovkin's ceiling is yet. I see Ward being able to mix it up between working purely on the outside, timing some ambushes inside, having the skills and bravery to mix it up with GGG in the pocket occasionally (risky business) and completely smothering him, bulling him onto the ropes and working inside. Roughing him up (Ward is bound to be a lot stronger) and stopping him from establishing a rhythm. We haven't seen yet how Golovkin deals with being borderline fouled and roughed up; if he loses his form he doesn't have a chance.
However, like I said we haven't yet seen GGG's ceiling in terms of how adaptable he is either. We do know that he was able to outbox Andre Dirrell in the amateurs at least, and he dealt with the minor questions asked of him in the Stevens, Geale and Rosado fights. And he has the power in either hand to wipe Ward out.
It's a fight I'd be really glad if it was made - certainly moreso than Mayweather-Pacquiao and maybe moreso than Stevenson-Kovalev. As well as establishing a new stand-out star (perhaps not commercially) it has a kind of clash-of-civilisations aspect that makes it more intriguing. What's left of the golden age of US boxing vs. the upcoming power of the ex-soviet nations.

Re: Ward v Golovkin
Andre wins if they fight anytime soon. Can't see this fight happening til 2016 at the earliest though. If I was GGG I'd wanna stick around at 160 til Saul comes calling. Thats the big fight for GGG right now. And Andre is just going to be holding his dick unless he moves up to 175 until these 160 guys move to 168 if they even do.

I'd favor Ward.

After watching Geale lose to GGG I couldn't help but notice how many time's he missed with his big gun's before he landed the winner
I have heap's of respect for Geale but he isn't on Wards level if Ward turns up with his A game it'll be enough to make GGG miss with plenty.

Re: Ward v Golovkin
Golovkin will certainly miss more with Ward and will be more tied by Ward's clinching, but he will most certainly land a few bombs stopping former S.O.G.ClivePatrickLyons wrote:After watching Geale lose to GGG I couldn't help but notice how many time's he missed with his big gun's before he landed the winner

Re: Ward v Golovkin
Ward hands down, GGG is an awesome fighter but boring or not boring Ward is the best in the business imo. GGG would get muscled around and backed up all night long. I would love to see it and I truly would not care who would win as I am a fan of both.
GGG fans annoy the hell out of me tho. Kinda reminds me of the Margacheato fans....

Re: Ward v Golovkin
Great fantasy matchup. Golovkin eats combos during fights. But Ward can't knock him out. I'm not sure Andre is even the stronger man. He's faster. And taller. And more skilled. Unlesa he gets caught badly he'll frustrate GGG all night. 8 rds to 4 andre

Re: Ward v Golovkin
First of all it is not an even fight size wise . GGG is the best 160 pound fighter and Ward best 168 meaning Ward is the bigger man, if they met at a catch weight of of 164 it would be a more fair fight. If the Hypothesis is fight is at 168 then I give Ward huge edge, as GGG defense is suspect, but GGG is usually the strongest man in the ring and is able to walk through his opponents punches at 160 .at 168 this would probably not be the case, so I would strongly have favor Ward in this the fight. I think GGG has fighting chance and if he shows some special attributes of athleticism, creativty that he has not been forced to show us so far, he has a chance to beat Ward, but it is a long shot, that I would love to see.
Now if Ward moved up to 175 to fight Kovalev I would favor Kovalev.

Re: Ward v Golovkin
If Ward runs and turns it into a Michael Nunn track meet, he can win a boring decision.
I think GGG hits too hard, and could score a late round TKO here.

I can not see how even Ward could survive up against GGG, just a matter of when

Golovkin has never faced such a class opponent, plus Ward is naturally bigger.
My money would be on Ward.

Re: Ward v Golovkin
Ward can definitely win but anyone who thinks he is going to bitch slap Golovkin is simply a moron. Ward's best way to victory will be duplicate what he did to Kessler...headbutting, holding and hitting, and clinching and running his way to a decision. Golovkin has that puncher's chance though. If he tags Ward clean he might just end up stopping him. I want to see it.

Re: Ward v Golovkin
Would have to give it to Ward, even the current inactive version of Ward.

And you're a little punk just because you wouldn't be man enough to say that to my face but I guess talking sh*t behind a keyboard does afford you safety though, huh?Baby Face Finster wrote:You're an imbecile because that's what you are....not because of your stupid and unfunny joke.
Re: Ward v Golovkin
If they fought at 164, I would call it an even fight. At 168, I would favor Ward by decision...winning ugly.
Re: Ward v Golovkin
If Ward makes 164, he will not last 6 rounds against GGG.
