Quality of Franks bills have vastly improved and even more 50/50 fights than ever.

Eddie's stable is miles ahead but competitve bills are getting less and less.

So as for stable, Hearn is head and shoulders above, quality of shows, Frank is well above

Yeah this pretty much sums it up for me. Obviously Frank's forced his own hand into putting on competitive bills, as his channel pretty much depends on it to keep its subscriber-base of hardcore fans happy, whereas Hearn has the backing of Sky so can rely on his stable of 'names' instead of putting on many competitive fights.

Agree totally. Yes Fast Car has a better stable but outside of a few gems (which are becoming few and far between) the actual bills are utter shit. I do not want to see a long bill with his 10 top names fighting 90-10 fights and would much prefer 3 top names in 50-50, even 60-40 or 70-30 matches.

He seems to think that being interviewed by Kuggan, listing all these amazing prospects from his camp while bullshitting that the opponent is a real test fools people. I have actually cancelled Sky Sports for the first time in 20 something years as I only watch boxing and what he puts on is not good enough to justify the cost, especially when you consider anything decent will be on box office. So I do not miss out as the only stuff I may watch I can still buy and would have had to anyway, this saves the subscription that I do not need

If the Liverpool show comes off you have to say that Allegedly's stuff has improved 10 fold and it's the best UK based card that is scheduled thus far for 2015. Last year it was Chisora v Johnson and Fury v Abell and now it's 2 good World title fights, 1 50-50 and 1 where our guy is the outsider but with home advantage. People like to use the line that allegedly put on more 50-50s tho and then proclaim fights like Caterall v Gethin as a 50-50. It isn't is it. People did the same with Flanagan v Gethin. Flanagan was going to win barring a dq or accidental headbutt, same with Caterall. I'd say the light welterweight fights Eddie has on the 02 bill are far more competitive than that one. The line coming out after the Excel bill from some was they would rather watch the supposedly World class Frankie Gavin vs the supposedly domestic class Skeete in what is somehow a 50-50 than an uncompetitive WT fight. Well Eggington v Singleton, the LWW fights on the 02 bill, Ward v Hughes, Simmons v Lewis-Dickinson all fulfil the criteria in my eyes of quality domestic 50-50s.

Matchroom are rightly held to a higher standard because they have almost all of the advantages of dates, fighters and so on. But to say they put hardly any 50-50s on is just being reactionary off of the PPV in Liverpool still.

In answer to the OPs question tho Matchroom definitely haven't left Queensbury behind, altho it did early last year look like they would. Queensbury have really upped their game, and Matchroom dropped a clanger with the Liverpool PPV.

James,

Excellent points - although the biggest concern I would say for Queensbury is you are getting more established fighters leaving Queensbury stable and joining Matchroom than the other way around.

Whilst Queensbury are still signing up some top amateurs and prospects, I fear this will become less frequent as the next generation of top amateurs consider that current fighters are leaving Frank for Eddie.

Of the top of my head, whilst some fighters have left their association with Matchroom. In the main it was only an "association" with Matchroom and not a direct promoter. Derry Matthews was with Caldwell (if memory serves) and Frampton was with McGuigan. Some of allegedly's recent coups (like Frampton) are not signed up with queensbury but only for the TV rights, so that could be a relatively short term thing. I might be wrong but I think its only Thomas Stalker who has swapped the other way around directly.

In saying that, big concern for Eddie IMO is TV dates. Warren has almost has an unlimited access to TV dates for his fighters. He can put a show on a Wednesday afternoon if he wants to and it can be screened. Eddie currently has a limited TV schedule, which might become even more limited with Sky now showing some interest in showing Saurland and Golden Boy shows in the UK. Eddie said ages ago that unless he can get more dates from Sky he will have to start being ruthless cos his stable is getting full. However, all he seems to have done is signed up more fighters. Now, what we are seeing his bill starting very early in the afternoon or ending late at night and his up and comers not getting on TV - they will not generate a nationwide following this way.

Clearly his Fightpass idea is his way at solving this, but not sure if this venture will work. If there is someway he could showcase the fights on fightpass on Sky even on a delayed basis, then I think that might help.

I've watched many a matchroom show with none boxing people and they often ask my opinion. I pretty much tell them who will win 80% of fights including matchroom fighters in 2014. Not because i know my stuff, because i honestly dont (look at prediction league) but because the winners are obvious

I agree with others saying that Matchroom have the best stable by far and Queensbury are currently putting on better shows. The lack of 50-50s on Matchroom shows in probably exaggerated though. Matchroom really don't seem popular on this forum. Franks Excel show was good on paper but didn't really produce apart from the BJS fight. Whatever your opinion though, it does seem like they're pushing each other, which can only be a good thing!

Goes round in circles. For 18 months we all hated Frank, Hearns openess and good shows made him loved but over time, his shows have got worse and Frank's have got better so its going full circle

Maybe Frank has grown bored of putting on shows week in week out. Putting on a handful of big cards a year and buying the rest in seems more appealing to me than traipsing up and down the country like he did when he was younger.

Pretty much agree with all that has been written. If I had to choose whos bill I went to pretty certain its Queensbury.
But who has the best stable is without doubt Hearn.
Sustainable? Depends on who much boxing Sky want to televise.

FW has put on many terrible shows and many fights lacking competitive action over the years, if we use our memories.

Now Hearn is the establishment guy, now it's his turn e.g.

I think a contributing factor is that it's easier to stage a show when sky cover the broadcast arrangements AND pay you 100k for the privilege, than when you have to cover those costs yourself and somehow balance the books off your subscription income.

I agree with most of the earlier comments, what I would like to know is will matchroom be covering burns' payout to fwank. I can guess at the answer but that situation is a black mark against matchroom. Ricky has been let down by those around him and it's hard to proclaim matchroom as the land of milk and honey if Ricky ends up bankrupt this year.

I haven't seen anyone call Catterall-Gethin a 50-50, most people seemed to see it as a good fight for Catterall at this stage of his career, but one that he should win comfortably.

All of those fights are a step below title level, they're good fights, but I'd still rather watch Gavin-Skeete, or preferably something similar with a better style match up, than them.

To answer the question it`s no,through this time last year it looked like he had.The shows Wazza has announced to start off the year is very good where as Hearn has the quantity of shows in his favour but maybe not the quality announced so far.I expect that Hearn will have the better year overall again but Wazza is making it interesting and should have a great start to the year so who knows.

It would be nice if Hearn teamed up with Warren at allegedly and then there could be at least one if not two decent British cards on it every weekend plus a midweek bill of prospects and they wouldn't have to rely on SKY anymore, but there is not a hope in hell of it happening
