Round 12
Time Commentary Points
0:00 Both fighters look ready to go as Round 12 begins. 0:0
0:06 Oscar De La Hoya got quite a pep talk in his corner; we'll see if Tommy Brooks's instructions work. 0:0
0:06 De La Hoya's corner gave his cut on the bridge of nose priority during the minute off and they've done an excellent job of closing the wounds. 0:0
0:06 Ross's corner didn't ignore the swelling he's suffered so far in this bout; however, even with the attention that they gave it, the puffiness doesn't look lessened much, if at all. 0:0
0:11 Ross comes in low. De La Hoya puts a headlock on him. Champion knocks De La Hoya's arm off Ross's head. 0:0
0:26 De La Hoya and Ross each take a step back. 0:0

0:43 Ross feints downstairs, then lands an uppercut under De La Hoya's chin. 4:0
0:43 That punch has reopened a cut on De La Hoya as once again you can see blood on the face of De La Hoya. 4:0
0:43 The bad cut on the bridge of De La Hoya's nose has reopened and the rivulets of blood are streaming down his face. 4:0
0:43 * More than once this round, it has appeared as if the referee has thought about stepping between the fighters due to the increased bleeding from at least one cut on De La Hoya's face. Now the third man in the ring is doing just that, as we get a stoppage in the action while the referee leads Oscar De La Hoya toward the ringside doctor for a quick consultation. In De La Hoya's favor, the bleeding isn't flowing into either of his eyes. 4:0
0:43 * Well, after talking a long look at De La Hoya's face, the ringside physician has indicated to the referee that the bout can continue. The third man in the ring is going to position both fighters where he wants them and get the action started again here in Round 12. 4:0

1:05 It looks like the last shot made the cut that De La Hoya suffered earlier worse. 6:0
1:05 Blood streams down the face of De La Hoya as the gash on the bridge of his nose has, apparently, worsened. It looks wider and is probably deeper than it was previously. 6:0
1:05 * What was once just a trickle of blood is much more noticeable now as De La Hoya's face looks like it lost a fight with a razor blade. It's a good thing that the bleeding isn't over an eye or this fight would be in jeopardy. And it still may be, as Referee Champion has now halted the contest and is leading De La Hoya toward the ring doctor's position to get a second opinion on the severity of the bleeding. 6:0
1:10 * Champion steps in and stops the fight. * Oscar De La Hoya is bloody mess, the cut over his eye has gotten to bad to allow this fight to continue. Ross wins by a TKO! 6:0

All these fights were close, except for the Ross/Hoya fight. Great effort from Camacho, thanks for accepting the fight. This might be the first season with no unified champion that I can remember. Close competition almost every week for the belts.

So far it's been a great season for him. I've had some dominating fights, coming from behind fights, right down to the wire, a mix of everything really.

I remember our last season around this weight whoever had Duran didn't do so well. Granted he has a high rating, but I'd like to think my managing has factored into his present glory as well.

Hats off to Camacho as well, great fight.

to be honest I thought Camacho would need to get super lucky to win. I am impressed with him knocking Duran down at least and I also figured Camacho's ranking would not be affected too much by losing this fight. So far Camacho has only lost to the very best Floyd Mayweather Jr. (UD), Julio Cesar Chavez (UD, never even knocked Camacho down), and now his first KO loss to the great Roberto Duran (TKO)

Camacho felt the hands of stone.......with his face

No one gets robbed like Whitaker......he wears it as a badge of honor.

Crease.....you are very lucky......you were given a gift......I doubt even you will claim he genuinely earned that decision.

Other than the old saying (of which I don't disagree strongly) that when it's close, go with the current champion.

No one can deny that it was a good fight though.
