Stiverne - Wilder chances

Post by Tarkus »

Stiverne got a belt after beating Arreola twice (who beat Mitchell in between).
- Little experience at contender level

Wilder got a chance after beating Scott in suspicious circumstances.
- Minimal experience at contender level

We dont know much about either fighters. Wilder especially is a complete enigma at this point.

I wonder how sure you are about your prediction.

60/40 Stiverne for me.

Hard to call, truth be known, but at least Stiverne has faced & beaten someone with a pulse. :TU:

I've not seen that much from either but in the second Arreola fight Stiverne got backed onto the ropes and took quite a few shots. He came through it well which suggests he has a good chin but if Wilder gets to land, and land clean, I say its a an early night.

I feel like its a 50/50 fight. Both guys got some question marks on them. I would say Deontay gots more question marks so if I had to lean more one way it'd definitely be Bermane's, but not by a whole lot, 55/45 Bermane. With Bermane's slow starting pace I think the longer this fight goes the more likely things go towards Bermane. I think if this fight gets decided in 3 its more likely Deontay wins & if its decided past the 3rd round its more likely Bermane wins.

60/40 Stiverne.

Wilder has minimal experience at contender level? Try none.

Having watched the weigh in... This is Stiverne's to lose. Wilder has crumbled.

You clearly haven't watched the King fight; the stoppage was definitely premature and King is the type of dangerous journeyman/gatekeeper that Wilder's team avoided like the plague on his way up, preferring the likes of the shot beyond shot Owen Beck . .

The way Showtime is building it up Wilder like he's already won is fishy, but the question is what could King gain by Stiverne taking a dive? He's not going to get a piece of Wilder, and Stiverne is what, like one of the last two "champions" old Don has left? Stiverne would only take a dive on Don's orders and I don't see any plausible situation which gives King a reason to do so.

I'm very excited for this fight. I feel it's 50/50, because Wilder is a complete unknown. Stiverne is by far Wilder's best opponent, but we don't know if Wilder is Stiverne's best.

All the signs say Wilder is going to kick it off early.
Has Stiverne prepared properly for the onslaught ?

How can anyone pick 100% for either fighter? Really? I went with 60/40 Wilder.

Only a Stiverne decision would really surprise me.

Seen the weigh in photo's. Stiverne must have been eating dunkin donuts. Wilder will win for certain win by knockout.

Anyone who takes out A Force and has the skill to miss Terry O'Connor in the process, has a skill level to be feared.

Three round blast out for Wilder.

this isnt athletics

stiverne is the same weight as he was vs arreola

he came in lighter before but felt weaker and less power in his punches

239 is stiverens best weight

its boxing not bodybuilding

I have a feeling Stiverne might suffer a knockdown before coming back to stop a tiring Wilder in around 4 fun-filled rounds.

But then I think, how does Bermane stay out of the way of those colossal, looping shots? Wilder's wingspan is huge and Stiverne is not exactly going to be elusive in there.

Who the hell knows really. Very hard to predict what's going to happen in this one.

Have you not seen Stiverne before this? He's looked like that for much of his career and was chubby in his amateur days when he knocked out the relatively sculpted and much taller David Price.

While I favor Wilder, I don't think he'll win because Stiverne is flabby and he isn't.

This. Looking like he just came from Dunkin Donuts has proved to be successful in getting Bermane where he is currently. It is a close fight, Bermane may lose, but I can't see pinning the L on his weight if he does.

If Wilder were for real, I'd say it would probably be better for boxing if he wins because he's young and Stiverne is 36. That being said, my gut feeling after watching the conference and weigh-in is that Stiverne is going to knock Wilder out and it won't be pretty. Wilder seems nervous and really agitated. Stiverne is focused and confident.

If Wilder can take Stiverne's best shot without folding, it will be an interesting evening.

If Wilder can't land that right hand in the 1st round it's over. Stiverne is a boxer, albeit not a great one, but a boxer none the less. Wilder is an athlete with a devastating right hand. Wilder will get exposed as the fraud he is while making more than most better heavyweights
