Next Matchroom PPV set for 28th March 2015?
SKY’s next PPV event looks set to be on the 28th March, and it will be a huge double header.
Kell Brook will be defending his IBF title against Jo Jo Dan in Sheffield, with a stacked undercard. Then it’s over to the MGM Grand Garden in Vegas for Froch Vs. Chaves, McDonnell Vs. Kameda and Burns Vs. Barthelemy……. if he can obtain special dispensation from the IBF to get out of his mandatory title defense against Pedraza.
Should be officially confirmed within the next 14 days, when Eddie returns from his winter holiday in Mauritius.

I'd pay PPV for that one - primarily for the Froch & McDonnell fights.
I'd say Carl has more than earned one final £17.95 from me for his swansong

The Vegas card on top does make it more appealing. Without Froch it is not a ppv.Boxerbeetle wrote:I'd pay PPV for that one - primarily for the Froch & McDonnell fights.

There has been some reports (how true I don't know) that Froch has given some kind of ultimatum. Chavez in Vegas next or I retire immediately, lose to Chavez and I retire, beat Chavez and I'll fight on.Boxerbeetle wrote:I'd pay PPV for that one - primarily for the Froch & McDonnell fights.

Surely Barthelemy is stepping unto lightweight so his mandatory doesn't matter. Can't see Ricky back at super feather.
I'd pay, be a cracking night of boxing this.

I'd defo pay for this. As someone above mentioned though, isn't Dan out of the Brook fight?
Re: Next Matchroom PPV set for 28th March 2015?
Just saying it might not be his swansong. I can see his final fight being at city ground on a summer PPV. I think Paul Smith might be a good fight for a final fight (win or lose against Abraham).jameswilson wrote:F u ck me, what a prima dona eh?.....stujones wrote:There has been some reports (how true I don't know) that Froch has given some kind of ultimatum. Personally I wouldn't buy a PPV that's happening at 5 am ,froch vs Chavez would be a fun fight but it's hardly more than an eliminator for the title the no2 guy vs Chavez who is a OK top 10 fighter is that really a PPV show I don't think so
Re: Next Matchroom PPV set for 28th March 2015?
It is actually a high risk fight for Froch's legacy IMO based on Chavez's resume. He's probably a better fighter and better Super Middleweight than what he has achieved at the weight.stevedoc wrote:Personally I wouldn't buy a PPV that's happening at 5 am ,froch vs Chavez would be a fun fight but it's hardly more than an eliminator for the title the no2 guy vs Chavez who is a OK top 10 fighter is that really a PPV show I don't think so
If Froch was retired, I think there would be quite kind on Chavez if he was selected to fight for the vacant title.
It's a funny little fight, I think it is fairly high risk, it is high reward financially, but relatively low reward in terms of career legacy - Froch, as stated, does not give a shit about that now (and I don't blame him) but it is a strange one. The only fighter that can realistically sell out a Vegas venue and he is borderline top 10 Super Middleweight.

Paul Smith would be a terrible final opponent for Froch - talk about an anti-climax after all those huge fights! I can understand him wanting a fight at the City Ground, although I'd guess it'd be Kessler III.stujones wrote:

Re: Next Matchroom PPV set for 28th March 2015?
Maybe, I would find both to be a tad of an anti climax now. However, I would suspect after Vegas, if Froch decided to fight again would want a "homecoming" against a relatively easy fight. I think now BOTH Kessler and Smith fit those criteria. I just thought Smith would be a easier fight to make and if again he covers himself with pride against Abraham there might be some clamour to give him a 3rd world title shot.Boxerbeetle wrote:Paul Smith would be a terrible final opponent for Froch - talk about an anti-climax after all those huge fights! Off course, if Smith pulls it off against Froch it would be a unification.
But yeah, Kessler 3 is a good call also.

Degale, to get his IBF strap back.Boxerbeetle wrote:Paul Smith would be a terrible final opponent for Froch - talk about an anti-climax after all those huge fights! I can understand him wanting a fight at the City Ground, although I'd guess it'd be Kessler III.stujones wrote:

He'll fight winner of DeGale Goves then sail into the sunset, after dispatching Chavez.

Be stupid IMO not to get the mandatory out of the way next IF they have plans to fight Khan in the summer. Back up for Khan should be someone in Vegas to earn the big money eg a Maidana Bradley etc Kell isn't a kid so should get the big money in now.
Re: Next Matchroom PPV set for 28th March 2015?
A night of one sided mis matches in Sheffield is guaranteed
Re: Next Matchroom PPV set for 28th March 2015?
There isn't a cat in hells chance of Froch fighting Paul Smith. If he was 10 years younger he might but not now, pointless fight.Boxerbeetle wrote:Paul Smith would be a terrible final opponent for Froch - talk about an anti-climax after all those huge fights! Re: Next Matchroom PPV set for 28th March 2015?
Smith???? No chance. Smith is used as a test for top level prospects. Think degale has 8 fight and groves 11 when they ko'd him without much troble. He certainly isn't a froch ppv (which is what any froch fight is now) opponent.
Re: Next Matchroom PPV set for 28th March 2015?
Limond v Jenkins is on the card which isn't too bad.tony1234 wrote:A night of one sided mis matches in Sheffield is guaranteed
gavin McDonnel is fighting http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
For the European title which looks disgraceful then again Galahads opponent for the vacant belt wasn't much better early last year which shows the standard at that level.
Gav seems a good guy but very fortunate not to have faced Galahad or Jazza Dickens IMO
Re: Next Matchroom PPV set for 28th March 2015?
froch beats chavez and then finishes with a homecoming against jermain taylor, remember where you heard it first
Re: Next Matchroom PPV set for 28th March 2015?
All lovely in theory but I wholly expect the cards to be diluted like Robinson's Barley Water in an Eighties summer.
Re: Next Matchroom PPV set for 28th March 2015?
What about all the Hatton fights etc in the past? I don't generally do early morning PPVs but for Frochy I would. Hoping to go Vegas though.stevedoc wrote:Personally I wouldn't buy a PPV that's happening at 5 am
Re: Next Matchroom PPV set for 28th March 2015?
Can't really compare Hatton and other fighters with the fanbase he had. I'd happily pay to watch Hatton at 5 in the morning, no chance for Froch, especially in a nothing fight.TheCobra wrote:What about all the Hatton fights etc in the past?
