How much ppv would Wilder vs Klitschko do?

Post by Chepppaaa »

I think it is obvious that this match up would be on ppv.

certainly mgm.

what ya think how much people would buy this or would it be a bust, because to people even now after a new usa heavyweight champion in a super entertaining fight still there would be not much interrest, cause klitschko bores the sh%&t out of everybody.

Complete bust. No one outside of boxing fans know who either guy is.

It could have potential for decent numbers like 800k or so.
But only after Klitschko fights about 2-3 times in the US and Wilder defends about 2-3 times against quality opposition.
It would need a strong undercard/co-main event.

i am not so sure about this one...because there are enough people who watch tv a lot and watch different things. i think this fight was so much entertaining that wilder made a lot of new stars. a lot of people watch showtime or nbc, i am not sure were wilder ends up, but if he continuies having such great action packed fights than he will be more known, that easy.

I mean people seem to not understant. wilder is champion, but if he beats klitschko, he would be a usa undisputed #1 heavyweight champion of the world, on top he fight entertaining, goes for the ko, thats something special. he would not be a #1 like wlad who bores everybody anytime he steps into the ring and on top he is from the usa, the #2 country in terms of boxing, but #1 when he comes down to media.

If Deontay can get a couple defenses under his belt & Wlad has a fight or two in the US they could do some respectable ppv numbers I imagine. Probably would wanna take a year to set this ppv up to maximum potoential though which I'm sure no one wants to hear lol.

WBA, WBO & IBF champion against a WBC champion with a 33 (32KO) -0 record. Undisputed title as prize.

Would have to pull a crowd. :box:

when it happens it will be big, but it is not ready to happen yet, so what it would
sell right now is a moot point. when it happens, it will be WAY over a million buys.
they need to go to the hospital and hold a mirror under the nose of some of the
really struggling patients and if there is one who can barely make a fog on the mirror,
that is going to be wilder's first defense. i hate to think of what lewis, bowe, holyfield,
tyson, or even buster douglas from the early 90's would do to this guy. he needs to
survive a year with the belt and pick his opponents carefully before he gets in with
the top 5 euros, and he needs to wait until wlad is ready to retire for the big unification.

I think if they put Wilder on regular network TV for some more exposure, it could approach 1 mil. Wilder vs Fury, then another top contender will help build the fight up. One thing that makes people in the US pay more attention, is having a guy from the US to root for. It will be bigger than you think, imo.

Mismatch so doubt it would do great numbers.

-What each can bring to a ppv event :
Wilder -
once the American media machine turn him into the returning hero who brought one of the world titles back to the U.S.A and you combine that with his history of fast and brutal knockouts and early stoppages.

Klitschko-
The heir to the throne of the unified heavyweight title, a Ukrainian hero, viewed and respected as one of the best world champions in years, with victories over the worlds best with a high level amateur background.

the right man promoting this fight, hell it has the makings of a huge ppv event

LOL at those saying it'd do 1 million or more. You guys are smoking crack . . .no-one outside of hardcore boxing fans have heard of Wilder and only slightly more have heard of Klitschko (thanks largely to him now being married to a U.S. TV star). I think 400,000 buys would be a stretch if that.

It could do £1 million, if the Americans really got behind their boy.
