That wasn't impressive at all. He fought a guy who didn't know how to cut off the frigging ring. Kept following him around like a puppy dog after it's owner. Sure he is a belt holder but he is no champion...Wlad is the champion at Heavyweight.hurricanemitch14 wrote:dude u suck, he just won the heavyweight title.

Ok he doesn't suck, but he is not the heir apparent to the heavyweight crown.hurricanemitch14 wrote:Ur right Wlad is the legit champ but u damn well know Wilder does not suck. Ur hating and that fight was fun.
I was entertained more by all the previous fights than the main event. Not saying the main event was boring, but it wasn't great.

I can live with that and thats one of the many things i like about boxing.....we get to watch a fighter develop and mature and possibly become great. I never would have dream Wlad would be doing what he's doing after his fights against Brewster,Williamson, and Sanders.

You can't get any weaker than the wlad era.
Re: Deontay Wilder the new WBC HW champion
That was a GREAT FIGHT-----------best hvy match since Lennox ruined Vitalis face.
Wilder made all the keyboard jockeys look like absolute fools. HA !!!
Nice boxing---Crispy sharp jab----NICE left hook---- Brutal right hand that gave Bermaine brain damage.. and GREAT CHIN-----he ate a bunch of Stivernes power shots . Proved everyone wrong !!!
Super impressed by Wilder tonight----and I had the fight 50/50 !
Wilder sparks out scaredy cat fighter Wlad in 6 rounds.
HOW WILL WLAD HUG AND CLINCH WHEN HE IS PUMMELED BY THAT SHOTGUN JAB FROM THE OUTSIDE ???

Re: Deontay Wilder the new WBC HW champion
I would like to see Wilder beat a couple other top guys before Wlad. Fury would be a great fight, Jennings too. A few other guys would make interesting match-ups too. As good as Wilder looked against Stiverne, I do think he is still not nearly as good as he will be yet.
Joshua has great potential, but don't think it would be good for his career to put him in with Wilder just yet.

I can't see Wilder's string pullers wanting to put him in with Wladimir just yet.
They'll want to 'build the fight, much like Riddick Bowe's string pullers wanted to do with his potential matchup with Lennox Lewis all those years ago.
Lets hope, unlike then, the two main protagonists survive long enough in order to face each other in a potential superfight.

Re: Deontay Wilder the new WBC HW champion
Wilder's win over Stiverne was solid. He fought smart and shook off a couple of hard shots to the head. If he boxes Fury or Jennings like that I think he wins. He's young and still learning. Nice to see someone under the age of 30 with a title belt. Funny some of the comments about his skinny legs. Go back and look at the old time heavyweights. A lot of them had thin legs compared to their upper bodies. Likely why they scaled well under 15 stone.

Re: Deontay Wilder the new WBC HW champion
Wilder is as much a real world champion as was Stiverne, who never even fought anyone in the top ten, and only fought one decent fighter, Arreola. The same goes for their touted "last american world champion", Briggs, who never beat one single good fighter, except for Lyakhovich, who was beating him on all cards before taking a dive at the very end.

Congratulations on the most retarded post of this new year. How is Wilder going to KO Wlad when he won't be able to get beyond Wlad's much better and stiffer jab? I wouldn't be surprised to see Wilder get knocked down from Wlad's jab.493dart wrote:That was a GREAT FIGHT-----------best hvy match since Lennox ruined Vitalis face.

"That was a GREAT FIGHT-----------best hvy match since Lennox ruined Vitalis face."
Lewis cut up Vitali's face by continuously rubbing the laces of his gloves and his steel wool hair into his face, and a careful viewing of that fight will show you how many times he kept repeating that, and if there had been a competent referee in there Lewis would have been disqualified. Also, last night's so-called "world championship" fight was anything but "great". The prelims were much better.

ur a fornicating moron, vitalis face got messed up cuz he kept getting punched in the face. where u from by the way??
Re: Deontay Wilder the new WBC HW champion
i'm not convinced, a counter puncher with a good chin will take Wilder out. He really windmills, and he made this mistake last night of windmilling on Stiverne when he thought he was hurt in in actual fact Stiverne had simply lost his footing.
I can see a Wach type European standing up to his shots then goodnight with a well timed counter. He's far from the finished article and his game beyond his power is a bit like Tyson Fury, utilize height/reach and jab, nothing all that impressive imo.

I suppose it isn't very entertaining if the guy you hate is pisspounding the guy you want to win.

Re: Deontay Wilder the new WBC HW champion
Agreed. Wilder does have some "work" to do, but as you said that certainly was a good solid win against a "live" opponent. Not sure if the lack of body shots / body work by Wilder was by design or by style. Wilder hasn't been the most prolific body puncher, although it seems he had a KO with a solid chest shot; nevertheless, was a bit of a question that I had. Wilder hasn't had much of an opportunity to work the body of an opponent, so... was the lack of success by Arreola going to the body against Stiverne the strategic reason for so few body shots or is that part of the "work" that Wilder's repertoire is in need of?Cap wrote:Wilder's win over Stiverne was solid. You apparently have not watched that fight--Lewis busted him up with these things called "punches "
TKO 6 .
Re: Deontay Wilder the new WBC HW champion
You are an idiot--- Wilders jab is quicker and more brutal than Clinchko's--this will keep that fruit Wlad from hugging all night. The 1st right that comes behind that piston jab will drop ol "Huggy" and shatter his glass jaw . Wilder by ko in 3 !!Baby Face Finster wrote:Congratulations on the most retarded post of this new year.
