Wladimir Klitschko vs Deontay Wilder - Who Wins?

Post by black panther »

Following Wilder's win over Stiverne, what is the concensus opinion on here regarding how he would fair against the real Heavyweight Champion of the world?

I personally only give him a very slim puncher's chance - most likely result is domination by Klitschko. I thought this beforehand; beating a plodding, overweight Stiverne hasn't changed my opinion.

He's a welcome addition to the heavyweight scene though, that's for sure!

Wlad within four rounds. He'd do him like Lennox did Grant.

I've got Wlad by decision, he'd be steadily cautious and win behind the jab and right hand and a high guard; he's too polished and experienced for Wilder.

Watching Wilder the other night, more than once he reminded me of Wlad, his jab wasn't as good of course although it was effective but Deontay was doing a lot of pawing

I can see Wilder taking a lot of flak for boxing cautiously in the future, like Klitschko his chin is suspect so if playing it safe is required then expect people to get "bored" despite Wilder having KO power ......like Wladimir

Wlad. I think he's much more skilled and I don't think he'd have trouble hurting Wilder if he landed well.

I don't see what the sizable fuss is about Wilder beating Stiverne. Fury was no less dominant against a similar level opponent in Chisora, while 40 year old Ray Austin was beating Stiverne into the 10th round of their bout and making Stiverne look slow and plodding like Wilder did, though Stiverne eventually caught up to him. Stiverne's high ranking was based very heavily on his wins over second-tier Chris Arreola, someone who was strongly favored in their first bout due to Stiverne's mediocre resume and multiple unimpressive showings (Austin, loss/draw/MD against journeymen), but I guess beating Arreola goes a long way today.

Wilder, for all his faults, has a dangerous right hand and probably a faster 1-2 than Wlad.

Wlad has a better jab though, you'd expect him to win the battle of the jabs. If he wins that, he wins the fight. Wilder is dangerous for anyone though.

Wlad has way too much experience to lose to Wilder. I think a fight with Wilder would bring out the best in Wlad and make people appreciate him more

I picked Wlad on points.

They should make the fight happen, then show it on Eurosport.

Although he had a good showing against Stiverne I cant say I have seen enough to pick Wilder over the champ. Hope they put Wilder in with a live opponent next so that we can see some more of his abilitie.

After watching wlad v Pulev I have no doubt that if wlad really wanted to he could put wilder away in a couple of rounds. Having said that someone of Wilders size, with a nice one two and monster power always has a chance of rocking the applecart.
