Brook is fighting Jo Jo Dan. Sure, just seen on twitter he retweeted that Brook's next fight announcement was on Monday. Eddie is just working on the date for the fight now Froch is injured.

All your bluster will come to nothing come the end of the year tho, so keep complaining that Kell Brook hasn't fought Khan while he's been injured. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Yes the IBF are strict with mandatories but your trying to make out like applications cannot be at least made to excuse why Hearn has failed miserably to negotiate with McGuigan...also didn't Hearn have a promotional interest in Avalos? The fight is a million miles away and Hearn has zero leverage to negotiate on Quiggs behalf...Quiggs handling has been a total fcuk up but that's a different story as I didn't intend for this thread to be me bashing fast Eddie.

Who's complaining about Khan/Brook- of course the fight wasn't going to happen
Next that's not the argument- I'm saying it won't happen this year.

Brook can't box on March 28 then expect Khan to twiddle his thumbs for three months to find out if he gets through unscathed
And Khan can't fight after June 18th because of Ramadan. Doesn't leave long for the fight to be agreed, Brook to have some time off after his fight and train to fight Khan. Might happen later this year if they're willing to put it on indoors, but it probably wouldn't be before October.

I think the injury is genuine, he has had problems with his elbow in the past. Whether it was enough to force him out of a fight is a different matter, if a fight was signed and announced, I don't think he'd have pulled out, unless the injury is far more serious than is being suggested.

Jo Jo Dan is absolute pony.

If Kell has to despatch him due to the IBF pushing him, then fair enough. But as a punter, it's a fight that holds no excitement for me.

Reminds me of the era when Ben Rabah and Arturo Morua were fighting to get Ricky Hatton, a pair of absolute IBF nobodies, in the end Hatton vacated when Rabah was made mandatory and he moved up and fought Collazo.

Then when Ricky won the IBF for a second time off Urango (who beat Rabah for the vacant belt) , Rabah then surfaced again for another eliminator in his very next fight, but Lovemore N'dou won and was made Hatton's mandatory - so he vacated it again to fight Jose Luis Castillo.

The IBF belt works well if you have a decent division thats populated with enough capable people - but in some divisions , the same 2 or 3 people constantly fight for it again and again.

At welter we have a lot of primadonnas like mayweather, pacquiao etc that never seem to follow the sanctioning bodies rules, as they are too big a name. That's what swept in the diamond belts and "super" champion belts - so the bodies could still get their cut from the big fights, whilst taking their slice of the regular scene with their "regular" world title.

Kudos to some boxers, they drop belts when a sh*t fight emerges - but there are promoters out there who stand behind the ruling as justification to sell a one-sided poor fight to the public.

Haymon did it regulary in his HBO days, such as the terrible Dawson vs Tarver 1 & 2 for millions in purses, yet attended by an audience of 800 and 1,200 people respectively and watched by nobody.

I'm not suggesting Kell vacates a belt that he has only just won, as that's his pride and joy right now - but ultimately, if the IBF send him one bum after another, it might well be that he has to.

Jo Jo Dan, Kevin Bizier from Canada, Luis Abregu from Argentina, Frederick Lawson from Ghana, Yoshihiro Kamegai from Japan - Top 10 features 5 nobodies. The rest aren't much better with Guerrero probably being the best, and he has faded a lot.

Kell has had plenty of fights with the likes of the Robles's, Saldivia's, Galarza's already and his fans want to see him in his prime, fighting the best welters out there. The Thurman's, the Khans, the Bradley's and the proper opponents. That is Kell's level and he can be a huge name with the right fights.

As a big fan of Kell's, I just hope he doesn't have run of IBF mediocrity at the Sheffield arena. He has proved a few times that he needs to have danger fights to be on his game, I think he is maybe one of those guys that will come unstuck against someone he was supposed to wipe the floor with.

So Froch gets injured and within hours Chavez announces he's reached an agreement to fight Fonfara....are some people still seriously buying that Carl is genuinely injured?

Nope, it is far to convenient that Froch announces an injury a day or two before Chavez announces he will fight Fonfara next. Sounds to me like Hearn was unable to close the deal for his man and they are now playing for time, possibly with the hope of reviving negotiations with Chavez in the summer? Or as someone else points out, perhpas Hearn would rather Froch fight Degale at a stadium this summer?

On another note, from Haymons perspective, why would he opt for Fonfara over Froch? Maybe he's not keen on Chavez taking another loss right now?

I wonder if Chavez wanted a warm up bout and Froch feigned injury to ensure he still has his belt for when the fight gets made for the Summer?

Isn't in common knowledge that's what Hearn wanted? It's easy to make for him, and he can build it as an All-British 'Super-Fight'. It was Carl's ambition to fight in Vegas that was making things otherwise, not what Hearn wanted.

That's the problem with the IBF. Due to the crooked Bob Lee days, they're now so anal about rankings, eliminators and enforcing mandatories.

Gomez good post, but if memory serves - Tarver was champ vs Dawson first time around and had a rematch clause which he activitated. On paper Tarver was actually coming off one of his better wins of his career and Dawson was a WBC champion, so on paper a good fight, but one that was only going to be for the purist. It turned out to be dire, but Tarver had the clause.

Dan is going to be outclassed most likely but he will give it a good go and after watching him fight his heart out in the first Bizier fight I for one will be glad to see him get the opportunity.

Considering he's mandatory and Kells horrific injury it's the perfect fight to make.

He'll still have to drop the belt if he fights Chavez in the summer, DeGale's mandatory, unless he agrees to step aside, Froch has to fight him or be stripped/vacate.
