DeGale Vs. Kessler for the IBF title?

Post by chad »

Both Eddie and the Sauerlands have Tweeted this morning they've been having discussions this morning and a big announcement is coming real soon. They don't confirm it's DeGale Vs. Kessler however I'll be surprised if it isn't.

Please god no, not another subscription. They can shove it.

Kessler to do a number on DeGale if that fight is on the cards.

A still "live" Kessler would be far too much for De Gale. At this stage of Kessler's career, he might be there for the taking.

This.

If Frochy didn't beat the remains out of Mikkel, Kessler's still reasonably bad news--despite his horrific injury list over the past... Er, fifteen years or so?--if you stand in front of him.

DeGale isn't gonna stand in front of him.

But does DeGale possess enough power on the back foot (or using a lot of movement in general) to keep a high workrate, durable guy like Kessler off him?

Kessler isn't ranked by the IBF, unless they suddenly shove him in the rankings without fighting, it's a non starter, Dirrell is ranked 2, so DeGale would have to fight him in America, or they could force Dirrell to pull out by winning the purse bids. As others have mentioned, DeGale-Groves and Huck-Bellew are more likely.

Don't think degale can fight anyone except froch or dirrell for the ibf. If froch vacates then unless dirrell is paid standside money it has to be him. That fight will go to purse bids becuase there is no way dirrell will come over here to fight again.

All they have to do is put a big purse bid in and Dirrell will pull out, waste of time negotiating with him, he won't travel and I don't know whether the board would allow him to fight here. If they start negotiating, DeGale's likely to be going on the road for a difficult fight.

I can honestly see both degale and groves loseing to both dirrell brothers, I think hearn feels that way as well thats why he wants them to fight each other and make hearn a boat load more money in the process.

I hope its DeGale Kessler. Would be even better if Kessler was not so inactive.

DeGale Groves no, its too early for that rematch.

Why would Sauerland feed Kessler to Degale when the logical thing for them to do would be to feed him to Groves? surely thats a bigger money spinner for them personally? and im sure George would take it, probably over a title shot as well.

Huck vs Bellew won't be announced until Bellew has finished his Hollywod stuf i imagine.

Does Kessler even have a contract with Sauerland? It's not far off 2 years since he fought, I wouldn't be surprised if the contract he had has now run out and he's a big enough draw to go it alone without a big promoter backing him.
