Froch Vs Hopkins
Froch Vs Hopkins
Rumours around are suggesting that Froch may chase a final fight with Hopkins, who is now coming back down to Super Middle. I personally think this would be a bit of a disappointing finale for Carl, and would prefer to see him against JSC or Degale. Hopkins was battered from pillar to post again Kovalev, and although that was in a weight above, the manner of the victory was emphatic.
Finishing against a 50 year old, however class he is, is a weak end to such a great career. I would prefer to see him prove how great he is by defeating one of the younger contenders in the division. Despite it being a reasonably healthy division, there aren't really that many options for Froch.

Re: Froch Vs Hopkins
Its a good idea for Hopkins to go down in weight, at his age he is perhaps getting lighter. He probably wins titles and makes history once again. I can see him beat Anthony Dirrell and Arthur Abraham. Hopkins vs Froch is an interesting fight. It is also interesting how his style matches with Ward. Although perhaps Wards speed and inside game would be too much for him.
Re: Froch Vs Hopkins
I'd give Hopkins a chance against a low output guy like Abraham or Dirrell who shuts down for long periods during fights but a volume puncher like Froch is all wrong for Hopkins. Apart from the money, fighting Hopkins seems like a lose-lose proposition for Froch. The only spectacular thing he could accomplish vs. Hopkins would be to knock the old man out.Tarkus wrote:Its a good idea for Hopkins to go down in weight, at his age he is perhaps getting lighter. IMO Carl Froch is bad idea for 50 years old Bernard Hopkins. Bernard best choice is taking belt from pseudo champ Artur Abraham. He has good chance against Anthony Dirrell too.

Why? Froch has proven he can be outboxed, that was happening in the fight vs Groves (a lesser skilled boxer than Hopkins) until he got caught. I'd take Hopkins by a clear cut UD.
Re: Froch Vs Hopkins
No chance in hell. Groves is twice as quick as Hopkins. Bernard couldn't deal with Froch, and I could see it being a very wide points with for Carl.KBB wrote:Cent0089 wrote:IMO Carl Froch is bad idea for 50 years old Bernard Hopkins. Re: Froch Vs Hopkins
Froch has proven he can beat those guy who suppose to "outbox" him on many occasions. Hopkins will find it very hard in the late rounds. In terms of temperament it will be like Kovalev 12th all over again and I am not all too certain that over 50 B-Hop will survive it.
Re: Froch Vs Hopkins
Lol twice as quick, lol. If that is Groves' only advantage then I see why he got KTFO, Hopkins is 20 times smarter in the ring and much bigger and with better defense too.Batley18 wrote:No chance in hell. Groves sucks anus which is why he got slept the way he did vs Froch, Hopkins is going to give that boy a boxing lesson. I wouldn't dare compare Froch to Kovalev, Sergey is on a much higher level boxing IQ wise.

froch really should retire........looks like he cant gather enough balls to fight bhop im vegas. ive been a froch supporter but chavez is signed to fight someone else. froch shoots down bhop and says he'll wait on chavez, fornicating embarrassing. chavez is a gimme fight
Re: Froch Vs Hopkins
Is there a chance Fonfara can rid us of that boy. I swear I am praying to God. lolhurricanemitch14 wrote:chavez is a gimme fight
Re: Froch Vs Hopkins
Knocked down....yes...KTFO....no. Froch has struggled against speed in the past, Hopkins doesn't posses anything that would bother Froch. He doesn't have the speed or the punch power. Froch is happy to eat one in order to get one in, and would happily do that against the old boy. It would be very one sided.
Re: Froch Vs Hopkins
I would pay to see this fight, I think Hopkins is nearing if not at the end of his career, he has fought everyone, you look at his record its a who's-who of champions, legends and some of the best in the world. With enough time and training I think Hopkins would fight at his best in this fight.
Froch right now is finishing his career, this would be a chance to fight a legend before both retire.

Re: Froch Vs Hopkins
Hopkins is too old.
At 50, it would be another Kovalev. Where Kovalev will simply throw a few extra jabs/right hands and win the Round. Rinse. Repeat.
imo
Would be a disgrace if Froch took it

Re: Froch Vs Hopkins
This doesn't make sense for either of them.
For Hopkins coming down to SM means h can pick up one last title before going out on a high. So Abrahams who is largely one paced and has struggled to carry the power he had as a middleweight makes far more sense than Froch,
As for Froch I suspect he want his next, and possibly last, fight to be entertaining. Hopkins would sell but it wouldn't be a spectacle.

Froch would win one of the ugliest fights known to man. I understand his desire to fight in vegas, but to me it has to be a fitting fight if he's not fighting Degale.
Picking Chavez guarantees a war, I'd pay to see a rematch against Pascal at 175, Golovkin at 168, anybody that will make a fight of it or give us the chance of a bit of a classic/tear up.
Hopkins would be an ugly end to 2 top, top class careers.

Am I the only one that thinks Hopkins beats Froch?

Please do not bother to consider this fight again, because it will never happen... EVER!

Re: Froch Vs Hopkins
Hopkins would have a good shot at schooling Froch. Absolutely no way Carl would be dumb enough to take that fight. Lose to a 50 year old? That'd put quite a damper on his career, which he's worked harder at than most, seeing as his competition level is better than almost everyone's.

No doubt, Froch has fought a murderers row of opponents. Hopkins would be a bad choice, guaranteed ugly fight.Blodhemn wrote:Hopkins would have a good shot at schooling Froch. why shake my head??????? He doesn't want to fight anyone that has a chance to beat him. It's not like he's Roy Jones and is way past it and has been ko'd numerous times. He's ranked 2 behind Ward. He keeps shoving this chavez fight down our throat and nobody wants to see that shit....it isn't gonna be exciting. Chavez has proven that he can't compete at top level at 168 and above. He got beat by Vera then won a boring dec in the rematch.
U make it sound like Froch has been the road warrior like glen Johnson.......froch has a very good resume but he a good fighter and champ. He can thank the super 6 for that resume. I have to question just how he is when a 50 yr old Bhop is too chancy of a fight. He wants to prove he's better than rival calzaghe then he goes after lazy ass chavez.

Re: Froch Vs Hopkins
Outside of the Super 6 he fought Pascal, Taylor, Kessler II, Bute, Groves. He has earned a gimme to round off his career. And how is a 50 year old Hopkins who has just been shut out comprehensively by Kovalev any measure against Calzaghe?hurricanemitch14 wrote:

Froch doesn't need Hopkins in the slightest at this stage, and for you to suggest he's running scared of the old dude is madness.
Re: Froch Vs Hopkins
I wouldn't say that Froch needs Hopkins either but it is smart for him to avoid fighting him because he'd lose and as far as Calzaghe and measuring him up to Hopkins then let's just say BHop has far exceeded anything that Joe has done.Riddick Blowe wrote:Outside of the Super 6 he fought Pascal, Taylor, Kessler II, Bute, Groves.
