BBBofC licensed Boxers take note
BBBofC LICENSED BOXERS WISHING TO BOX ON MBC SANCTIONED EVENTS PLEASE TAKE NOTE
It has come to our attention that the BBBofC are still playing games by saying to their license holders that there will be repercussions should they box on MBC sanctioned events, even though we have complied with all their requirements of notice and provided proof of our medical standards, both boxers and events.
I can confidently say that in the coming week or so we will be providing verifiable proof that the BBBofC are legally unable to carry out the 'threats of repercussion' they have been making to the boxers that make an application to box on MBC Sanctioned events in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
A number of BBBofC documents, legal documents relating to previous court cases involving the BBBofC as well as European Legal documents relating to this matter have been delivered to us today, once our lawyers have been through them we will be issuing a statement as well as provide any BBBofC licensed boxers the documents so that they can confidently make their application to box on MBC sanctioned events.
Also please be aware that the European Boxing Union (EBU) is NOT the regulatory organisation for Boxing in Europe, as has been stated to boxers recently - it is a Championship organisation and nothing more, also please note that the BBBofC, just like the MBC, are just a private limited company and do not have any governmental approval or affiliation.
I am so disappointed in the BBBofC and their inability to provide their members with the true facts and look forward to BBBofC licensed boxers being able to ply their trade by boxing on MBC sanctioned events should they wish to do so

Re: BBBofC licensed Boxers take note
how much are your licence fees?
Re: BBBofC licensed Boxers take note
Interesting post.
To be honest, I would have more sympathy for the BBBofC if they had clear and transparent rules and regulations that were applied consistently.
The are effectively a gentlemen's club, doing what they want without recourse and it appears that they almost make it up as they go along.

Boxer £85, Promoter £420.00, Manager £210.00, Trainer £70.00, Matchmaker £130.00standing8 wrote:how much are your licence fees?
Our medical requirement for professional boxers are identical to those of the BBBofC - Medical, blood screening, eye test and MRI scan - on the MRI's we even have the same contract with in-health as the BBBofC and as such the MRI/MRA cost exactly the same.
Re: BBBofC licensed Boxers take note
Do you have the same medical provisions at shows too?
Do your promoters have to lodge a bond?

Did anyone see Robert Smith's being interviewed by Paul Dempsey on BT Sport recently. Asked about the whole Luxembourg/Haye/Chisora fiasco he was very quiet and quickly moved the conversation onbripez wrote:Interesting post.

Exactly, some novice pro looking to get a bout or an amateur looking to turn over is bullied by the BBBofC - when it is certain boxers/promoters with more power, the rules suddenly change.whiteboy wrote:Did anyone see Robert Smith's being interviewed by Paul Dempsey on BT Sport recently. Remember how pro's and amateurs were not allowed to mix ? - we then had am-pro shows to accommodate Amir Khan fighting Kindelan, after that fight he turned pro and the concept just disappeared ....
Re: BBBofC licensed Boxers take note
Any fighter that fights on one of these Malta shows should have their license taken away, with no chance of getting it back. Heading down a road towards multiple British titles and fighters who are unfit to box being allowed to fight here. The British Boxing Board of Control sanctions boxing in this country, end of, fornicate what the EU say, get the government to make it the law if needs be.

Re: BBBofC licensed Boxers take note
In my opinion the board could do with some stiff competition, let it all happen fairly and then see who comes out on top, maybe then make them government backed, right now if the BBBoC became government backed i think they would become unbearable as whatever they said would be tough shit, a monopoly wouldnt help at all.expe wrote:Any fighter that fights on one of these Malta shows should have their license taken away, with no chance of getting it back. Tbf here the board gave this full backing we did two of these shows in bham and went really well,it was actualy the amatuer body who stopped these carrying onbripez wrote:Exactly, some novice pro looking to get a bout or an amateur looking to turn over is bullied by the BBBofC - when it is certain boxers/promoters with more power, the rules suddenly change.whiteboy wrote:Did anyone see Robert Smith's being interviewed by Paul Dempsey on BT Sport recently. Re: BBBofC licensed Boxers take note
They're not perfect, they get it wrong at times, but on the whole the board do an excellent job. Safety wise they're brilliant, do everything right, when it comes to sanctioning fights and eliminators for titles, they could be better, but I think that could be improved without competition, just requires a bit of quality control and some proper published rankings would be nice, along with being a bit more open about the reasons for decisions they make.Looking On wrote:In my opinion the board could do with some stiff competition, let it all happen fairly and then see who comes out on top, maybe then make them government backed, right now if the BBBoC became government backed i think they would become unbearable as whatever they said would be tough poo, a monopoly wouldnt help at all.expe wrote:Any fighter that fights on one of these Malta shows should have their license taken away, with no chance of getting it back. Re: BBBofC licensed Boxers take note
AIBA are going down the line of refusing to allow anyone involved with the professional game to have any role in amateur boxing, once this Dr Wu fella pisses off hopefully things will change, pro-am shows would be a lifesaver for a lot of promoters and give the amateur fighters great exposure.jonp wrote:Tbf here the board gave this full backing we did two of these shows in bham and went really well,it was actualy the amatuer body who stopped these carrying onbripez wrote:Exactly, some novice pro looking to get a bout or an amateur looking to turn over is bullied by the BBBofC - when it is certain boxers/promoters with more power, the rules suddenly change.whiteboy wrote:

Never a truer word said. Whilst there safety record is very good, their ability to apply multiple different outcomes to similar situations is unparelleled.bripez wrote:Interesting post.

Re: BBBofC licensed Boxers take note
Didn't robin deacon get a MBC license after the bbboc refused him one?
Re: BBBofC licensed Boxers take note
And a GBA one, stopped on the GBA show, beaten on points by a fighter that was 0-11 and had clearly been brought in for him to get a win against. He's still trying to get his BBBofC license back, thankfully with little success.Alba wrote:Didn't robin deacon get a MBC license after the bbboc refused him one?
Danny Williams was going to fight on a Malta show at the end of this month against Francois Botha, says it all really.

At the end of the day if your liceneced you should be able to fight in any country, I'd have thought its against your rights to earn if you were stopped surely?spudder56 wrote:If thats the case why do boxers still want to be licensed by the Board ?billy nelson wrote:On par with BBBofC shows

As long as they meet all board medical and licensing criteria I don't see that there is any problem whatsoever
Re: BBBofC licensed Boxers take note
It's the thin end of the wedge. Things have worked just fine with the BBBofC acting as the notional governing body in the UK and in my view it's a dire shame that the Maltesers have chosen to make the moves they have. That said, at least from the outside looking in, their arguments, whilst not necessarily in the best interest of the sport, are perfectly valid. If an official governing body could be sanctioned I'd be all for it.

For me there are to many people involved with the board that have never boxed
Re: BBBofC licensed Boxers take note
I hear that argument but I don't buy it, Darcy. There should be some ex-boxer input but there's no correlation between being a good boxer and being a good member of a board. Don't forget that if it weren't for non-boxers, the sport would never have got going in an organised fashion in the first place.Darcy Delaney wrote:For me there are to many people involved with the board that have never boxed
Re: BBBofC licensed Boxers take note
This is intriguing. What titles can a fighter box for if he is licensed via the mbc?
