these old ass boxers should try to stay relevant by opening their mouth.
atlas - wilder will ko stiverne in 2 rounds
if flipping lateef kayode fought charr and Holmes was commentator he'd say "these 2 can given wladimir a tough time"
given the guy credit. beaten more undefeated HW than any other boxer,

Yes, he's taken the most "0"s in heavyweight history with 11 so far:cold187 wrote:these old ass boxers should try to stay relevant by opening their mouth.

- Larry Holmes
- ESPN's Teddy Atlas and Eric Raskin
- "dempseyfire" and at least 10 other regulars here at boxrec
- at least 20 regular posters at ESB
- at least 15 at checkhookboxing
- at least 12 at BS where I made this same thread (check the replies).
- I also made this thread at saddoboxing, and you can easily check it and see that some over there too are in full agreement with Larry.
Hatred sometimes blinds people from seeing reality.

No jab lol. Sounds like Larry mighta been drinking some red, white & blue koolaid or had a lil too much maple syrup on his pancakes that morning (or found a refuge in his backyard the previous night).
Its easy to sh!t on Wladimir. He's boring as sh!t. But the guy is an elite guy & the best guy for the last several years & I think its pretty reasonable to suggest no one would be favored over him at this point.
BUT I mean its always fun to say who you speculate could beat a guy & maybe get a lil excited about it & over embellish your remark as likely happened here. Larry is usually a fairly reasonable individual & not known for bold claims/predictions post-boxing career. And if you don't believe that you can kiss his big black ass.

Asking a great fighter what he thinks about another great fighter is like asking a girl if her girlfriends are cute.
If a girl likes a girl she is cute regardless of what she looks like. If she doesn't like a beautiful girl, she will say she isn't cute.
Same with boxers; it's a popularity contest.
I have great respect for Holmes and the Klitschkos, but Larry's opinion is likely based on Klitschko praise of Ali, in other words, jealousy just like with girls.

Just needed to read this far. Wlad probably has the best jab ever. All of his big talking opponents get their first taste of that pile driver jab and suddenly they don't feel so confident any more.

Could definitely be this too. I mean the no jab remark sounds silly as f#ck & like a dick measuring kinda thing.Tony1244 wrote:Asking a great fighter what he thinks about another great fighter is like asking a girl if her girlfriends are cute.

No, but I'm not going to waste my time providing many links for you.fergusg wrote:Please provide evidence to support your theory that every single one of the people you quote believes that:

You’re clearly exaggerating their opinions to fulfil your own agenda!

Holmes also said that Rocky Marciano was "nothing special". Guess where he's coming from. Three guesses.
PS I'm still pissed off that Gerry Cooney didn't beat that bum. He could have and should have if he had fought the way he always fought instead of trying to conserve his energy and mess around boxing in that 100 degree heat.

Re: Larry Holmes: Wilder or Stiverne would beat Klitschko
I can understand he opines that Wilder can beat Wlad, well the guy have a quick and powerful right hand so he has a chance but saying that Wlad doesn't have any jab and that a guy slow like Stiverne can beat him is really stupid.
Re: Larry Holmes: Wilder or Stiverne would beat Klitschko
That is utter nonsense. I've known Larry for years and I'm white and we always get along. I met him through a white guy, I've met other white friends of his, it's just ridiculous. Larry Holmes doesn't hate anyone, much less the entire white race.reggaereggae wrote:Holmes makes no secret of hating whites so this may colour his opinion (sic)

Larry Holmes wouldn't be a top thirty heavyweight today. He had no chin, couldn't use his distance, and was feather fisted.
(See how silly you sound, Larry?)

I can't remember how many times people on his forum told us that, being a fully trained pro boxer, gives you a special insight into the fight game that those of us who dont regularly get punched in the head, couldn't possibly understand.
Then you get an ATG, HOFer, record breaking, former undisputed heavywieght champion of the world dropping thes little nuggets of stupid into the mix.

No jab? Is Larry high or drunk?
Re: Larry Holmes: Wilder or Stiverne would beat Klitschko
Has Larry Holmes ever finished a sentence without using the word "jab"?
Seriously, he has to be one of the most tedious and predictable boxers to listen too
