Happy Birthday Big George
One of boxing's pound per pound biggest punchers, and great heavyweights of all time, Big George Foreman, is 66 today. Happy birthday, champ!!!
Re: Happy Birthday Big George
Ali, Frazier, Norton, Lyle, moorer, Morrison and holyfield just to name a few, what a resume

On April 26, 1975 George Foreman fought five bouts in one night - and the first of them was the same guy we've been talking about on the Clay/Ali thread - Alonzo Johnson - but Johnson just took a dive in this one. He had already been retired for three years, and he had lost his previous 8 out of 9. Clay was at ringside being his usual obnoxious asshole self. And Foreman had not yet become his nice guy persona that he grew into later. All in all a pretty ugly affair. BoxRec doesn't list them as legitimate fights.

Truth Squad update:
Alonzo did not take a dive. He had fully intended to foil George and held out hopes for renewed respect.
Not that the odds were with him...but in a circus show like that he felt he had nothing to lose, and possibly something to gain.
Who feeds you this tripe? And how does it taste?

Don't be silly. Johnson wasn't an idiot. If he was he wouldn't still be in good shape and riding motorcycles. He was there just to make a few bucks, not get hurt. It was an absurd mismatch on every level. As for tripe, yes it does taste good. Menudo:

That Toronto 5 exhibition was indeed a very, very ugly scene.
Foreman was very close to a mental breakdown from the Ali taunting. Cosell could see how close Foreman was to the edge and urged Ali to stop it. At one point you could hear Ali laughing and saying "George is crazy."
It was very cruel of Ali to do what he did that day. I understand trying to get a mental edge on competitors but at some point you need to be decent enough to back off.

To taunt the crazy is bad form. I know I wouldn't want a fully gasket blown Foreman coming after me...with the rule book out the window.
That could be a sentinel event.
Cudo's to x2x and his posting pictures of tripe, stating firmly that he likes it. Based on this, I'll expect him to continue sharing this dish with others.

Thank you, but I think you were trying to say "seminal event"; and it's kudos, not "cudo's".

January 22 wasn't Big George Foreman's birthday because he was already turned 66 since January 10 his actual birthday.

x2x.......kudos to you for catching my "Tripe-0". C was an accidental key....
however.....sentinel is what I said and sentinel is what I meant.....now focus on your quality......We'll keep a sharp eye out for when you go wrong.
A sentinel event is an unexpected occurrence involving death or serious physical or psychological injury, or the risk thereof. Serious injury specifically includes loss of limb or function.

Well, you got me on that one. The English language can be confusing, and that's a new one on me. But the first one! I guess I've heard that, "Oh, officer, I accidentally hit the wrong key" story before! I'll let you off this time, but if you do it again I'm going to have to write a citation. Have a nice day.
