Rocky Juarez vs. Robinson Castellanos

Post by jujigatame »

Pretty good fight tonight on FS1. Against their common opponent (Rene Alvarado) Juarez did much better, but Castellanos has had a better last few years overall. Tough one to pick. I think I got Castellanos by decision.

The winner theoretically becomes the mandatory challenger for Gonzalez, although we'd all probably rather see Gonzo fight Mares or Walters.

For FS1 this is a quality card indeed.

And yes, let's have Gonzo/Walters post haste. Make that fight.

Anybody else watch this? Castellanos looked great and gave Juarez a beating in a pretty good action fight. Makes me wonder what happened against Alvarado because that is a pretty big anomaly on his record now. As for Juarez, his problem is the same as it ever was. His workrate is low and he's just not enough of a puncher or sharpshooter to win fights throwing 40 punches per round.

This makes Castellanos the mandatory for Gonzo although personally like most people I would prefer to see Gonzo/Walters instead. Castellanos will give Gonzo a decent fight though.

Is there a fighter with a more unorthodox fighting style than Robinson Castellanos who is active at the present time? He may not be that good of a fighter, but can give his opponents fits in bouts with such a baffling style. Rocky Juarez couldn't figure him out and took quite a beating as a result.

Yea he's a lanky guy but he can fight well on the outside with jabs or inside with uppercuts. He's got one of those weird records where he's got double-digit losses but he's still dangerous even to top guys.
