It's clear the beatings he's gone through have taken their toll . . .you want to see a shot fighter receive a beating like this past Saturday?FloydtheDuck wrote:This is one of the problems with boxingNo one in their right mind would televise an Alvarado fight again. This would be a good time to retire.
Which you may be correct and he never gets televised fight again
But I have the complete opposite opinion
The guy is a whack job, get him in the ring again and it won't be soon enough
I'd like Alvarado v. Ortiz
Sorry but causal viewers and even some diehard fans want to see these kind of fights where it's not going the distance and there's some sort of drama and fireworks
But knowing top rank, you're probably correct and that's the last we see of mike
I think it was Pac/ Bradley 2 PPV which they had 4 fights all go 12 rounds without a KD in any of them
That's what's making casual fans tune out. Give them some excitement

I don't think the guys shot at all
A term that's probably used more than ducking in the sport
He never was very good, and now it appears he's a loose cannon inside and outside the ring

Re: Rios - Alvarado and undercard RBR
there are a lot of guys alvarado could beat at 140 and 147, just nobody contending
for a major title. the version of rios he lost to would probably beat algieri or
provodnikov or broner for the wbo 140 if he could get back down to that weight
and would be a 50/50 shot to beat lots of ranked welters. alvarado would just need
to take a step down in level and maybe fight on espn2 for the usba or nabf or something.
it's possible he could work his way back to a top 15 ranking in 2 fights if he played his cards
right and maybe be an opponent for a voluntary major title defense and try to make the
most of it.

Re: Rios - Alvarado and undercard RBR
Alvarado needs to retire, but when he does he almost surely will end up dead or in prison. Probably better to keep on fighting then. He's got nothing productive going on in his life other than training camp for a fight. Then again, it doesnt appear he actually trained for this last fight so he's probably just a lost cause altogether.
His life story will not end well, unfortunately.

Unlike jermaine taylor who is doing dumb stuff because his brains are completely scrambled, alvarado just does dumb stuff because he is naturally stupid.

Best way to describe the situation.jockpunk wrote:Unlike jermaine taylor who is doing dumb stuff because his brains are completely scrambled, alvarado just does dumb stuff because he is naturally stupid.

Rios v Provodnikov would be brutal.
I hope Alvarado gets on track, he'll be similar to Kelly Pavlik if he doesn't; he took some hammer Sat night and could do with a few months rest.
