What is her boxing background? Did she even watch fights previous to becoming a judge?
She might wanna consider a comedy career. She's funny.

It was not a draw but it was not a shut out either as some Floyd fans have you believe. It was somewhere in between.

"They just swung back and forth"
This the sort of expert, in depth analysis one must prove themselves capable of in order to judge fights in Nevada. The NSAC clearly maintains some very high standards in hiring judges.

Re: CJ Ross Stands Firm: Mayweather-Canelo Was a Draw
Yea I know she's judged hundreds of fights. I'm just curious what her actual background is outside of boxing. Like I always wonder are these people even boxing fans, have they fought themselves, do they have zero appreciation for boxing outside of the judging process. I kinda feel like everyone who's judging a fight should preferably have a background in the sport to one degree or another or at least be watching as many if not more fights than the average person who frequents this site outside of judging. That should be 60%+ of the people judging fights & it should be 85%-100% of the high profile judges in top twenty & above level fights.
I really think boxing needs to implement some sort of judging the judges process, along with some other things like coming up with a more definite criteria for who should win a round instead of the extremely subjective guidelines that judges have now (basically its not all the judges fault some of the bad cards go down imho) & a more progressive scoring system that takes into account & credits domination without an actual knockdown more often. How we are in 2015 & there isn't something like this is kinda frustrating as a fan.
There is the fan generated Pod Index site (Boxing & MMA judges ranked basically): http://www.podindex.org/m/index.php/podindex/report
But really thats just giving points for agreeing with the majority, which probably is gonna be right more often than not, but I think there is a higher degree of difficulty with finding "bad judges" & more importantly the re-education or dismissal of bad judges isn't something of much concern for the "bad judges" right now.

She's obviously gonna be in consideration for Jim Lampley's gig when he steps down. I anxiously await the CJ Ross, Max Kellerman & Roy Jones commentating teamchucktaylor wrote:"They just swung back and forth"![]()

Yeah she's a terrible judge.
Re: CJ Ross Stands Firm: Mayweather-Canelo Was a Draw
Her Pacquiao v Bradley card was worse. At least with Canelo there's a warped argument for Canelo pushing the action which is what she seems to be getting at. Bradley ran for his life against Pacquiao and landed nothing of any significance over 12 rounds.
Good riddance CJ Ross.

Re: CJ Ross Stands Firm: Mayweather-Canelo Was a Draw
I had Pac and Floyd winning easy in both fights that were mentioned
That being said , scoring is never gonna perfect when a human element is involved
But the greatest thing about boxing is you don't have to rely on the judges, take care of business and your opponent in the ring, and you never even have to have a score read- how about stepping on the gas instead of pushing the break as a few fighters have done, who've been upset about scorecards
It begs the question though. Are some fighters just more judge friendly?
I don't mean winning rounds convincingly or KDs, I mean having the ability in close/narrow rounds to have judges side with them more
Paul Williams, jermaine Taylor come to mind
I remember when Sergio Martinez was the exact opposite. And was getting the shaft as far as scorecards go

I thought it was fairly close at the time with not so much action, like a chess match. Still clear win for Mayweather, but no shut out. I quite enjoyed it at the time but still just watched it once:)
I remember I tried to watch some highlights of the fight once, but it was quite ridiculous. A highlight with no punches thrown, never seen that before so I turned it off.
Re: CJ Ross Stands Firm: Mayweather-Canelo Was a Draw
it is very often unfair to judge a longer statementfergusg wrote:"I think there’s a big difference between those fighters and their styles and the power that Alvarez has and the strength. Him being so much younger than Mayweather, it may have made a difference in what I saw. It was right for what I saw."[/i]
by a short quote, but this seems really odd. after
all it is precisely the job of a judge not to be
influenced by anything but the reality of the fight.
(young) alvarez did not move faster than (old) floyd,
and he did not show much of power in their bout
either. so wherever the judge had these ideas from,
it was not what he could have seen in that ring that
night.
Re: CJ Ross Stands Firm: Mayweather-Canelo Was a Draw
Oooooh it was a woman. That's why . She just thought Canelo looked better but knew he didn't win . Thus the draw.

I am not a Floyd fan at all, for me he lost against Castillo and draw against Maidana in the first fight. But I have the Canelo fight 120-108 for Floyd.Tarkus wrote:It was not a draw but it was not a shut out either as some Floyd fans have you believe. It was somewhere in between.
Re: CJ Ross Stands Firm: Mayweather-Canelo Was a Draw
I had it 118-110
I'd have to watch again to be more confident but I recall thinking that there were only three rounds that could've fairly gone to Canelo. There were several rounds in which not much happened and there was ample feinting and posturing, but I thought Mayweather tended to clearly get the better of these types of rounds even if not by a great deal. And while it seems like a decent number of people had no problem with the same score being turned in for the first Maidana bout I thought Mayweather clearly won that too, although I had him up only by three points rather than eight.

Its comedy brother calm down.fergusg wrote:I don’t think we need to resort to sexist bigotry, because in my mind at least, Julie Lederman is one of the best judges in the sport of boxing. So that should dispel any myths that female judges cannot do their job!
If you’re a boxing fan, I don’t see what genitalia has anything to do with one’s ability to judge a fight.
Having said that I would like to know her & anyone's background with boxing or at least their appreciation for boxing via watching fights. I don't want anyone, with or without a vagina, judging a fight if they don't have some personal history boxing, training, reffing, etc. or are watching the amount of fights that guys like frequent this forum watch on average.
I'd like to see more ex-boxers judging fights. I know a guy, who lives & dies boxing, who became a judge & he told me in his state it was a bureaucratic nightmare trying to get into judging & its mostly about who you know to move up higher in your importance. If all or many of the commissions work like that its no wonder sh!t is f#cked up.

Google her... you'll realise how knowledgeable she is! She’s been an expert boxing aficionado her whole life!
Meant CJ Ross. Obviously I know who Julie LEDERMAN is.

One of the best? She had Chavez beating Bradley 8-4 FFS! I'm not saying her being a woman contributed to that, but she isn't dispelling any myths with that piss poor score.fergusg wrote:I don’t think we need to resort to sexist bigotry, because in my mind at least, Julie Lederman is one of the best judges in the sport of boxing. Re: CJ Ross Stands Firm: Mayweather-Canelo Was a Draw
Its either her eyesight or true lack of knowledge of the sport. There are good and bad judges of both sexes. She makes herself look stupid by trying to justify her horrible score. Maybe she is one of the many anti-Floyd fans?chucktaylor wrote:One of the best? She had Chavez beating Bradley 8-4 FFS! Re: CJ Ross Stands Firm: Mayweather-Canelo Was a Draw
Overall Julie Lederman is among the best in my opinion. I think her score for Chaves-Bradley was very poor but loads of other judges more consistently turn in bad cards, and being a relatively good judge today simply means turning in less shitt than the others.
Could be. Maybe Ross is anti-Manny too considering her score for his first bout with Bradley.Maybe she is one of the many anti-Floyd fans?
Re: CJ Ross Stands Firm: Mayweather-Canelo Was a Draw
There's a couple of interviews she have and they're all condescending. fornicate her she shouldn't judge another fight. She doesn't know what she is looking at no matter how many times she repeats 'these people don't have my training'

I thought she went by "CJ" as she didn't want it known she was a female in case she got abuse for it. I'd say that's fair enough, shame she couldn't get her fvcking scoring right though.verballistic wrote: How can you "stand firm" on ANYTHING when you have been run out of the sport for incompetence.![]()
To be honest, before the whole Canelo-Floyd controversy put her in the spotlight, I had never even seen her before & thought "CJ" was a dude when the name was announced in the scoring, because it's very rare for females to go by their initials instead of their first names. Going by "CJ" shows she must have been a little self-conscious about being a paid professional official in a sport she knows ZERO about.
