Wilder took up boxing late and as an amateur was knocked out a few times if I'm not mistaken. (There's a youtube video of him getting KO'D hard by some random Russian amateur).
Klitschko KOs him easily.
Haye KOs him easily.
Povetkin is technically better and stops him late.
Fury stops him late or wins a decision.
Tony Thompson beats him on points.
In shape Odlanier Solis destroys him by KO.
Mike Perez also KOS him.
At this point I feel Oliver McCall, Bobby Gunn, and Brian Minto are 50-50 fights (lol).

I get that some people dislike Wilder, but you have to be serious here. Deontay has good reach and power, so some of these smaller guys are going to have a tough time of it.Andrew Kearney wrote:Gotta congratulate Deontay for his win but can't help but think he will be outclassed and likely KO'D by Klitschko or Povetkin or Haye or perhaps even Fury.

Haye hasn't fought for a year and a half.
Povetkin was embarrassingly smashed by Klitschko and couldn't cope with his power, so would struggle with Wilder's.
Fury has a chance.
Thompson is too old.
Odlanier Solis isn't in shape.
Perez is too small and would struggle in the same was as Stiverne.
You have to be realistic and say that Wilder is the second best heavyweight out there right now. He hasn't fought many of the top guys in the division, but he has the tools that make him a difficult guy to face.

Wilder will probably end up fighting the likes of Tarver, Arreola, Cunningham and Shannon Briggs before the lists mentioned here.

"Deontay Wilder is in for a rude awakening"
somebody probably said the same thing about
johnson, dempsey, louis, ali …
do not understand why people cannot just enjoy
someone's success a little more. i for one really
like that he adds excitement to the scene.

belt and i wish him well. i hope he can get some
easier defense and then puts it all on the line with
the big man.
will he walk through all of the opponents you did
mention in your post? of course not, but i doubt
he will turn out to be a fluke. i could imagine that
he was able to take stiverne out in the mid rounds
if he had gone "all in". but he didn't in order not to
endanger the bigger target: the belt. after all, maybe
this right hand is guided by a … brain.

Yes, it looked horrible while Stiverne was beating him up. Wilder is so inept that he didn't even know how to clinch like a bitch every time he was getting man-handled in close.cultus wrote:It Was just a Cool video of course. But Wilder defense is pretty bad.

He is improving, and is a threat to any heavy out there, like it or not. It seems more people like hating on Wilder than actually want to give him props for what he has accomplished. Comes with the territory though when you get a belt, especially when some think he has not earned it. Hopefully he can keep improving and beating some top guys.
His career so far was managed carefully with good reason, due to his very limited amateur background. With a couple more wins against top guys he may be ready for Wlad. (If he keeps winning)

Re: Deontay Wilder is in for a rude awakening
I watched that video. It said, Wilder almost KOd." What a bunch of BS. Not nearly KOd. His feet were always solidly under him. If anything the clip proves that Wilder CAN take a very good punch.
Everyone can sometimes look awkward. Imagine if we could see the worst of Dempsey, Marciano, or Ali sparring.
This anti-Wilder stuff is nonsense.

Wilder seemed faster, quicker and more durable then i thought. I'd pick him over fury, pulev or jennings but i'm still struggling to imagind him defeating povetkin. He can't outmuscle him or hurt him with his jab like wlad did, he can't take his combinations. All he can do is run from povetkin for 12 rounds and he might get a decision in US, only in Us.

Re: Deontay Wilder is in for a rude awakening
I don't think that Povetkins team is in any hurry to have him step in the ring with Wilder. While Povetkin is clearly more accomplished than Wilder, it's not like he’s fought many quick footed, hard punching and skilled 6-7 opponents. And I’m sure if Huck can hurt him, I think Wilder has enough to make him take notice.kaanrsln41 wrote:Wilder seemed faster, quicker and more durable then i thought. Waldamir Klitschko will box a opponent ,Bryant Jennings, Wilder refused and avoid.

Hate hate hate. People said this leading up to the Stiverne fight. I'm tired of hearing about amateur background. A great amateur background doesn't always equal success.

Wilder is a legit top ten guy at this point. He's tall. He can move. He can hit. He proved he can box and win a tactical match as well. Sure he has a chin on par with an NFL kicker and stilts for legs. So what! I think he'd good for boxing but worry he's getting hyped a bit too much from the casual fans in boxing.

I rate wladimir, povetkin, pulev, fury above him at moment. holding wbc belt dont make him no2, (just like chagaev holds wba regular belt doesnt make him top 5)
wilder is better than people think, just frustrating when he was fight people we know he can beat.

Not sure if this or the OP is more ridiculous. Wilder is fast becoming the new Floyd on here for polarising opinion and bringing out the dumbest of statements.493dart wrote:Wilder will beat povetkins face inward from the outside work...within 6 -8 rounds. alex's chin isnt as strong as stiverne. wilder by 6 or 7 round ko.
Haye would give trouble....if wilder cant catch him.....decision to ? I would love to see haye/ Wilder
Huggy Clinchko wont know what the F to do with the super long reach / footwork / and swift cracking jab coming from wilder. Deontay will catch that glass jawed huggy-bear and ko him within 8 rounds.
Fury = Deontay will catch his huge glass jaw within 2 rounds.....and the big stiff , un talented gypsy is out of there !
I STAND BY MY PREDICTIONS !![]()
