Andrew Golota was robbed against Byrd and Ruiz

Post by Michael bennt »

Big Golota fan, watched back both fights today and I had him winning them both by a couple of rounds. What a great ending to his crazy boxing career if he would of won a heavyweight title belt

I remember Byrd's wife bitching him out after the fight telling him he lost the fight, then he gets a gift decision

his wife was always bitching, even when he was getting sparked by wlad and blood on his face.

I thought that too.
I had Golota winnng both fights. The Ruiz one was closer but I felt Golota clearly beat Byrd - at least, ringside judge Tony Paolillo agreed with us and scored it 115-113 for Golota :TU:

Absolutely. People forget that Golota was really the heavyweight champ because he beat both Byrd and Ruiz legitimately and fairly and squarely with no monkey business, and both times he was robbed by the judges and that corrupt* idiot impersonating a referee, Randy Neumann, and why was Neumann always dogging Golota and why didn't Golota's people protest that? I even remember George Foreman - the only honest announcer in recent years - protesting Neumann's unfair refereeing.

* Neumann, former NJ heavyweight contender along with Chuck Wepner, is still based in NJ, and runs the Randy Neumann Wealth Management company. He handles, and launders, money for the boxing mobsters.

Don't forget Bowe's fights. Both fights Golota winning till the DQ.
The same against Michael Grant, when he get caught in one of the last rounds, but in every round he schooled Grant.
Lamon Brewster and Lennox Lewis fights,I wish that this fights never took place.
Golota was the most unfulfilled HW star in the history.Sad that he couldn't even gave farewell fight for his fans.

golota's trouble was his mind. that is what kept him
from being more successful. just watch the interview
after the tyson fight. i don't blame him, he is no coward,
but he has issues …

definitely one of the weirdest careers in all of boxing
history.

I thought Golota was robbed against Bowe too despite the nutshots he dished out.

I thought he lost both fights. To call the Byrd fight a "bad robbery" is ridiculous. It was close but Byrd in many rounds landed the cleaner, sharper punches.

IMO he should win both of them. The Ruiz is more debatable, as after almost TKOing Ruiz (even though 2nd knockdown was a gift from the referee) he became quite inactive in later rounds so they were quite close... if one gives them all to his opponent, it is possible to get the decision for Ruiz (who had a point deducted on top of it).

On several occasions Byrd's hands touched the ground after Golota hit him. The ref should have called each of them a knockdown and given Byrd the count, but Neumann ignored them all.

Even BoxRec writes this on their commentary page about the Golota - Ruiz fight:

"Most observers had Golota winning"

http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/John_ ... rew_Golota

I watched that fight in a big and crowded saloon. I think that everybody there booed the decision.

Neumann is the worst boxing referee that I have ever seen. A good ref is competent and makes himself unobtrusive. Neumann is incompetent and constantly tries to make himself the center of attention by bellowing and interrupting the action.
