Amir Khan next fight

I've always enjoyed watching Khan over the years, unfortunately I don't think I'll ever attend one of his fights, they seem to attract too many chavs and asian "gangstaz" from the local council estates making the arena look like some kind of holding pen for the Jeremy Kyle Show.

Amir Khan met with Manny Pacquiao in London on Friday to hold talks over a potential fight at Wembley Stadium.
The British welterweight, 28, trained alongside the former pound-for-pound champion for several years under ex-trainer Freddie Roach and always maintained they could never fight.
But both are now open to meeting and spoke at Fitzroy Lodge Boxing Club.

Any event can sell in London with a bit of hype. That doesn't necessarily apply up here.

Tight northerners

Much better attended shows in Yorkshire. The Leeds show will do more than The O2 one and the Hull show will be better attended than most Copperbox ones ever were. Campbell-Coyle will outsell Saunders-Eubank and from the people I spoke to at Froch-Groves, most were northern! Brad Saunders will hit big numbers in Newcastle, too. Londoners only go to events, to comb over their hair and show off. Even Eddie says it's hard work. Poor fight city for its size.

Or the famous Repton where most of the best kids come from outside the East End! I've been to the York Hall loads of times and the area is full of Bangladeshis. Or The Copperbox, where North Londons Buglioni and Keane did all the tickets!

So Khan spends pretty much the last 4 years of his career fighting in front of small crowds in the US. On one occassion ticket sales were so bad you could get them on the night in exchange for two purchased toys that were then donated to poor children(!), then, all of a sudden, it makes business sense for him to fight pacquiao in the UK? Thats the complete opposite to every other fighters business model. Brits fight in front of big crowds in UK whilst striving for the big money one in vegas. Wembley may hold 50,000 but the US ppv sales and casino cash will always come out on top. A second tier seat for Mayweather Hatton was $1,000 face value - ringside for Mayweather Canelo was £9,000 and were snapped up and sold on secondry market or given to high rollers. A HD feed for Mayweather Alvarez in the US was $74.99 PPV! Casinos literally throw money into the pot to generate big vegas weekends. What will wembley do? Charge the promoter, be a logistical nightmare, provide a crap tarporline over the ring to protect the fighters from the inevitable drizzle and provide crap views for every paying fan bar ringside!

According to Amir Khan, his next fight will be at Wembley stadium.

It must be a big name, if he thinks he can fill Wembley.

On the day of the Kell Brook press conference, Khan chose to release this news.

Eddie Hearn rang Wembley stadium and spoke to the person in charge of bookings. He hadn't had any contact with Khan or his representatives.

With the exception of a fight against Floyd or Pacquiao i cant think of anyone else that he could fight that would fill Wembley.

Other other candidates would be Timo Bradley or maybe Juanma Marquez.

I dont even think a titel fight between him and Brook would fill it.

No, I can't see that either to be honest. Brook hasn't really captured the public's imagination the way that other British World Champions have... And to be honest, I'm not really quite sure why.
