Does Murray have ANY chance v GGG?

That's pretty much my thoughts expe; he stands firm with his hands high, Golovkin is mobile on the attack and will send the body shots in and very hard punches through the middle. Martin is a tough man and brave but doesn't have the power to keep Golovkin off him.

Even taking punches on the gloves from Golovkin must be draining, mentally and physically. He hits hard enough to hurt you with punches that are partially blocked and feeling the power he carries on the arms and gloves must be horrible mentally, the realisation that if he hits you clean, you're in big trouble.

I was thinking about starting a thread asking this question (decided not to as have a feeling I've already seen one in a similar vein) - but would Murray beating GGG be the biggest upset involving a British fighter? Struggling to think of a bigger one at the moment.

Honeyghan against Curry always gets wheeled out when this questions asked, there's probably others that are up there too, Laing against Duran, Stracey against Napoles etc. Don't know if it would be the biggest, but it would definitely be up there.

Murray doesn't throw enough to win the big fights.

He had the beating of Sturm and Martinez but simply wouldn't throw the punches to take the fight.

He'll likely make Golovkin look bad and take a few rounds but i see him losing 117-110 suffering a knockdown somewhere late on.

He didnt throw enough punches to put it beyond doubt. and because most of what he does looks so basic its sometimes easy to see why rounds are given against him.

i thought he bit Martinez but lost by 2 to Sturm.

I think Murray will do better than a lot of people think. Murray is a teak tough boy and I think he can take Golovkin into the later rounds. He won't win and I doubt if he'll last the distance but I can see him going nine or ten rounds.

Yeah I guess that was a big one in terms of the name involved, but Tyson was hardly in his prime at the time & certainly wasn't the dominant figure in the weightclass the way GGG is right now.

He's going to have to do a Lloyd Honeyghan and fight the fight of his life and hope GGG comes in over-confident/undertrained, which I just can't see happening. I think Murray will give it his all, he's a good pro and decent fighter, but short of this kind of level.

I think what Murray has a good chance of doing is making GGG look very bad for a number of rounds.

He did that vs Martinez and Sturm and I don't think Murray is just going to fold like Rubio or Geale.

It could well be a UD for Golovkin, but it will be a tough night for Murray and he'll earn every penny in making the final bell.

Also, the British upset artists of the past could all bang. Murray just won't be able to hurt Golovkin, whose never been down amateur or pro.

Geale isn't exactly a dynamite puncher but he's no powderpuff puncher either, yet Golovkin just walked through a Geale right hand in order to deliver one of his own (which subsequently finished the fight).

The only reason martins not had more ko's is because of hand trouble, if he gets injured he's unable to fight and unable to make money, I think if he just lets his hands go n thinks fornicate it, he could surprise GGG with his power, he's got Oliver Harrison in his corner who eat,s sleeps and shits boxing and I don't think he'd have let him take the fight if they didn't think they could beat him, He's shifted a fair amount of tickets for such an expensive place to go, so it should be a pro murray crowd. I have faith, even if iv got rose tinted glasses on.
