Looking forward to this move. I'll be curious to see whats his first fight. I've seen mention of Chris Algieri in a few other places being the first guy he'll fight at 140. Not real excited for that particular fight, but there are some potential fun matchups for Terence @ 140.

Algieri isn't that interesting a fight, but taking on a recent World Champ in your first fight at 140 isn't too bad a way to start. He isn't exactly the hardest puncher either, so it is a good way of easing him into the new weight. I think this guy could be an absolute superstar, would love to see him dump Garcia on his arse.ReggieDiggs wrote:Looking forward to this move. I'll be curious to see whats his first fight. He's a very good fighter, but I kind of question his chin. Not sure what good matchups there really are for him at 140 unless pac moved down.

Provo is not being named. Too much for the 140 debut ?jockpunk wrote:He's a very good fighter, but I kind of question his chin. Not sure what good matchups there really are for him at 140 unless pac moved down.

Seen it mentioned as a possibility for his second fight.ikorolev wrote:Provo is not being named. Too much for the 140 debut ?jockpunk wrote:He's a very good fighter, but I kind of question his chin. Not sure what good matchups there really are for him at 140 unless pac moved down.
Not really keen on the Algieri fight, don't think the styles match up well for a good fight, depends if Algieri still has the WBO belt, it's up in the air as to whether he's been stripped or not at the moment, if he has the title it's worth it, without it there's better fights out there for him.
More interested in what it does for the WBO title at lightweight, Juan Diaz will almost certainly fight for it, but it will be interesting to see who's in the other corner, get the feeling it will either be Crolla or Ormond/Flanagan.

Sadly Garcia is probably impossible due to Heymon. So maybe Vargas or Provo first, then move on to Matthysse?

I doubt he'd get a Manny fight unless he beat big names impressively this year. Maybe in 2016 it'd be more reasonable, assuming a nice 2015 & Manny sticks around.jockpunk wrote:Not sure what good matchups there really are for him at 140 unless pac moved down.
I think if Terence can get 3 fights vs some combo of Brandon, Ruslan, Lucas, Danny, Adrien or Lamont I think he'd have another great year & be in the running for fighter of the year again. Maybe 2 of those guys & a Chris Algieri or Jesse Vargas would still be real damn good too. Lets not forgot Terence had one great year in one division. He's looking like he could be the guy to watch moving forward, but he still gots to fight the fights just like GGG is doing right now despite his greatness being confirmed out of the ring more often than inside the ring.

There has already been some talk about a Crawford vs Pacquiao fight down the line, Arum will definitely make that happen should Manny go back to 140 as Roach said he would.

Sounds like a long shot, with Manny's age and him heading back down to 140. However, if it ever does materialize, it is one I would be extremely interested in seeing.KBB wrote:There has already been some talk about a Crawford vs Pacquiao fight down the line, Arum will definitely make that happen should Manny go back to 140 as Roach said he would.

Me too, although I don't think Crawford has much of a chance. I still think Manny hits too hard for Crawford, plus he's fast and a SP which all spells major trouble for the youngling, if the Cuban was able to daze Crawford then imagine what a shot from Manny is going to do to him plus Pacquiao as we all know doesn't only fire one shot at a time.Impractical Poster wrote:Sounds like a long shot, with Manny's age and him heading back down to 140. Yeah, at this point in time, it seems it would be a little early for Crawford in against the caliber of a fighter like Manny. However, I am pretty high on Crawford and see him as a future top P4P talent. Manny's career is already in it's twilight phase, so if he is still active in a couple years, I can see Terrance capitalizing on a fading Manny. Either way, it would be a great experience for Crawford.KBB wrote:

I would like to see Crawford vs Mikey Garcia, but will settle for Algieri.
Re: CRAWFORD MOVING UP TO 140, POSSIBLY IN VEGAS ON MARCH 28
Garcia isn't fighting at 140 anymore. His last fight and next fight aren't at 140. He's easing his way up to 147. Idk how you can blame Haymon for a decision Danny and his father are making. Crawford is moving up to 140 while Danny has left 140. But I guess Haymon is to blame for everything.jujigatame wrote:Sadly Garcia is probably impossible due to Heymon. I had no idea Garcia was moving up to 147. But let's face it, if he did stay at 140, a Crawford/Garcia fight would be VERY difficult to make.benion wrote:Garcia isn't fighting at 140 anymore. Re: CRAWFORD MOVING UP TO 140, POSSIBLY IN VEGAS ON MARCH 28
I don't think Danny has for sure left 140. As nutty as it sounds apparently they are undecided if Danny vs Lamont will be at 140 (this was mentioned as late as yesterday in a article I read, don't recall by who unfortunately) & for the abc belts or at 143 as was being reported initially. Seems a lil late in the process to be undecided on something as important as weight, but thats whats being said.benion wrote:Garcia isn't fighting at 140 anymore. Having said that I'd assume Danny, win, lose or draw will be officially moving up to 147 after Lamont. And I don't think there is really anyone you can rationally "blame" for this. It is what it is. I'm surprised Danny hasn't moved up already so him moving up officially now seems more a late decision than a strategic decision by Danny, Al or anyone else.

Re: CRAWFORD MOVING UP TO 140, POSSIBLY IN VEGAS ON MARCH 28
I don't think we can necessarily say this. It can be speculated on obviously, but I think with Al's new found boxing mainstreamness, making some fights with other promotional outfits than he's accustomed to is something, that if success is to be found in this mainstream move, will be needed. So ultimately Al CAN decide to work alone, but he's ultimately gonna f#ck himself over by doing so. Even with his 160 man roster there are fights fans wanna see that he won't be able to make by keeping to a inhouse strategy. So he's gonna need to work with others, get an advisor gig with 80%+ of the big names in boxing or he's gonna fail in this huge move he's making.jujigatame wrote:I had no idea Garcia was moving up to 147. Obviously the situations aren't totally comparable, but it feels like he is trying to create his own UFC-style boxing "league", keeping things as insular as possible. So yes there will have to be some potential for co-promotion just because of the way boxing is organized with the ABCs and such, but it does seem like he's trying to avoid it whenever possible.

Re: CRAWFORD MOVING UP TO 140, POSSIBLY IN VEGAS ON MARCH 28
Yea I think its not something that'll come right away to be clear either so he'll be able to avoid it for awhile. I think he's going to go with mostly guys he's advising & you'll see a unaffiliated type guy from time to time. Hopefully towards the end of the year we'll be seeing some other notable promoters coming into the PBC fights, hopefully sooner.jujigatame wrote:Obviously the situations aren't totally comparable, but it feels like he is trying to create his own UFC-style boxing "league", keeping things as insular as possible. And I hope he's thinking some sort of hybrid UFC league. I think boxing needs an outfit that concentrates on the best fighting the best. No one does that. Personally I don't care about titles anymore. Who you beat says you're the best in 2015. Now granted I kinda expect some PBC belt at some point, but it'll be more like that ESPN belt back in the day than any sort of real belt to start off. It'll have meaning sooner rather than later if he does involve other notable promotional groups.
Re: CRAWFORD MOVING UP TO 140, POSSIBLY IN VEGAS ON MARCH 28
Yep, I've got that feeling too. With his own PBC belts too! If he does I hope he eliminates some weight classes.jujigatame wrote:Obviously the situations aren't totally comparable, but it feels like he is trying to create his own UFC-style boxing "league", keeping things as insular as possible. Crawford has skills and he has a wide frame, Gamboa shook him seriously late in that fight.
I hope he move up but he might have to test the waters before diving in.
