Fight promotion design

I was wondering if anyone can help me with this. It may sound like a strange thing to want to do, but I am a designer based on the South coast of England. For a while now I have wanted to design posters and programmes for fights shows - small or large. So if there are any promoters, managers, fighters or even fans out there - any where in the World - that can point me in the right direction, that would be great!

Or if there are any promoters out there that are looking such services, I'm your man! I don't even want to make a lot of money from this. It's just something I want to do. It'd look great on my CV too.

I'd say your best bet is put a few together online and email it to the various promoters via their websites - Harrison/Guzman to Maloney for example - and ask them if they're interested in using.

I've been thinking of doing that for a while - as i see a lot of design faults/inperfections in posters and programmes, but i need decent quality photos (high-resolution) in order to design a good looking poster.

I agree with Billy, try and speak to Jack Bishop as his posters and programmes are sometimes knocked up on Microsoft Word so could do with some sprucing up!

This is exactly why i want to do this. Even the big promotions over here have poor designs. The colour schemes don't work, the legibility of the programmes is sometimes poor and there is no consistancy in the running of the text (a 5cm text column, followed by an 8cm column) - Its all pretty unprofessional. The Calzaghe v Lacy promotion poster is just a re-hash of the Hatton v Tszyu poster. They should have given that to me! - I would have really made something of it!

The stuff that Hennessy sports do is very good in my opinion. Obviously not quite up to the standard you would get from a design agency, but a cut above the stuff offered by other promoters.

You're right mate, the Hennessy promotion stuff is spot on! Can't say the same for Sports Network though.
