I watched Manuel er sorry Miguel beat Scott Harrison years ago. He won a cut I think, but I remember feeling it was very close.
He also fought similar legend Peter Buckley 5 times and just about every british prospect around his weight including Hamed.

Re: Manuel Matthews
Miguel was a true gent but in that fight with Scott, Miguel was getting badly beaten up, I remember only to well his corner shouting NOW and he headbutted Scott a beauty causing a very bad cut which required micro cross stitches from the doctor that nightreggaereggae wrote:I watched Manuel er sorry Miguel beat Scott Harrison years ago. Re: Miguel Matthews
It has Harrison sticking the head in because he was frustrated that he couldn't beat Matthews up. Essentially he did it to himself.

Re: Miguel Matthews
fornicate off pal we clearly heard Matthews corner shout "now" a he stuck the head on Scott, Mathews eye was nearly closed over from the beating he was getting or have you forgot that?Coco wrote:It has Harrison sticking the head in because he was frustrated that he couldn't beat Matthews up. Funny how they refused a rematch later on
Re: Miguel Matthews
Haha if you look at his record he has never turned down a fight in his life, esp if the money was right.
I had Pat in my corner for most of my career and he never told me to stick the head in on no one.
So you are saying this was an organised plan? Did they plan this before the fight or did they do it mid round?
I'm sure that Miguel would have had a lot more wins on his record if the had used theses ingenious method! Perhaps Scott was just unlucky that he was the only one Miguel tried it on!
Did Miguel have to wait for this signal from the corner? Wasn't he capable of working out when to stick the head in himself!

Re: Miguel Matthews
Originally he was a miner, often he used to do a shift underground before a fight. Then he we your on his own delivering coal and had his own building business, did a bit on the door too.
Re: Miguel Matthews
I grew up in the same area , nice bloke, tough bugger as a lot are around there, particulary the boys who worked in the private mines...
Re: Miguel Matthews
Didn't Seamus Casey work down the pit too?

Yeah Miguel is doing great, always a grafter in and out of the ring, he has made a good life for him and his family, pretty much unmarked and def undamaged, he is the same bloke he always was.billy nelson wrote:I hope Miguel is healthy and well great fighter who fought many great fighters, a credit to boxing
