Who will Khan fight next?
Who will Khan fight next?
Khan has once again put himself in a waiting game for Floyd (or Manny), and it looks like he will not get either. With so many of the top welterweights having fights already scheduled, chances of him having a bout against a top welter seem slim, unless he decides to finally take on Brook or rematch Maidana. My guess is he will get in with someone like Victor Ortiz or Berto, or possibly Joseito Lopez.

Re: Who will Khan fight next?
Good question.
He's invested so much time in waiting for Floyd Mayweather to phone him, now his options are depleting.
I think he should look towards fighting Brook, possibly in a big stadium somewhere in the UK & get over his hangup about Brook not being a big star.
Brook is an established WW & has the one thing he craves again; a world title trinket, so why not fight him, beat him & take that title?
Brook would certainly welcome it & I think it would sell.

At this rate, he's got more chance of fighting Mayweather Sr than Jr!Lackeos wrote:Perhaps Mayweather

That is the fight I would want him to take.mullenman wrote:Madaina

If not Floyd or Manny has to be Brook in the summer assuming Brook beats Jo Jo Dan easily.
That fight would be big in the UK.

Probably someone on PBC. I think he's gonna make Kell wait for that fight. He's got like a Miguel thing with Saul. Amir don't need Kell, Kell needs Amir at this point. So business dictates you make a mfer wait & look for greener pastures (ie bigger & better &/or more upside & less downside) yourself.
I don't think it'll happen, but I'd like to see Adrien vs Amir. I got no vested interest in that fight or who wins I just think it'd be fun.
I wouldn't be surprised if we got like a Amir vs Keith or Robert win or lose for either guy in their fight. Wouldn't be surprised if Amir got Victor Ortiz or Andre Berto either (well isn't Andre in Amir's camp now?, strike that I guess). A Marcos rematch. Shawn Porter. Lotsa good 147lb cats under the PBC umbrella so Amir gots some solid options.

bradley is the easiest option for him,
simply because tim doesn't hit that hard.

This is a funny one. Back when Khan fought Maidana and Bradley fought Devon at light welter, i said Bradley would walk though Amir if they met. But now I don't think Bradley could live with Amir.man wrote:bradley is the easiest option for him,

As it happens, I can see Khan taking a fairly weak opponent. Mayweather or Pacquiao looks unlikely and Khan has stalled himself chasing and waiting for the Floyd payday once again.

well, it's not like bradley is as dangerous as brandeis prescott, but tim might be able to survive a few roundsdavie wrote:But now I don't think Bradley could live with Amir.
with the rugged olympian after going 24 rounds with pac and even winning a few of them.
Re: Who will Khan fight next?
Most of the fighters people want to see, and listed in this thread as possibilities are not going to happen. The guys that have fights scheduled - wait, ones not scheduled is easier to list;
Maidana, Bradley, Ortiz, Berto. Am I missing any of the other "top welterweights"? Out of those, only Bradley and Maidana are interesting, and somewhat meaningful fights. JMM has not put himself in the picture yet due to his injury, and if he did, he wants the belt, which Khan doesn't have. Like I said before Khan's last 3 or 4 fights, look for him to take the lowest risk fight against the lightest hitting opponent. Molina (feather fisted lightweight) Diaz, (washed up but actually imo beat Khan even though drained to 142), Collazo (who lost every big fight he was in and had not done anything in 4 yrs except lose to Freddie Hernandez), and Alexander, (who was exposed and beat down by Porter).
Hand picked last 4 opponents for Khan is an under-statement. He needs to continue to work his way up the welterweight ranks. He thinks he is on top, but actually far from it.

Re: Who will Khan fight next?
It won't be Brook that's for sure, don't be surprised if he fights someone who can't punch like a Paulie Malgnaggi, he should be canning all his ducking excuses and take on Kell but we all know he's afraid.
Re: Who will Khan fight next?
Khan should get a name guy.
How he maneuvers into a meaningful cred fight is another thing.

Re: Who will Khan fight next?
If Khan isn't going to fight Brook, then he should've tried to rematch DG or LP, otherwise dude ain't got no balls for real.
Re: Who will Khan fight next?
Brook is already lined up.

He wasn't at the time when Khan had nothing on the plate, all Amir did and continues to do is state as how he says "Brook is not in my league" or words to that effect but if Floyd says that about him then he claims Mayweather is ducking.
Which is it, he cannot have it his way/both ways.
He could always fight Ortiz, neither of them has anyone lined up as far as I know.
Re: Who will Khan fight next?
I don't think Brook will fight Khan short term unless there is something on the table long term.
Re: Who will Khan fight next?
As I understand it, Brook is still an unknown quantity in the US. I'dl ike to see Khan fight Bradley next, hopefully on the undercard if Mayweather vs Pacuaio.

Re: Who will Khan fight next?
I've seen Amir bringing up Kell's name since its looking like his top two options with be fighting each other now. But he brought up something about Ramadan interfering with a fight with Kell. Kell is fighting in late March. Isn't Ramadan in September? That seems like plenty of time to make that fight unless I'm missing something or wrong about Ramadan.
Re: Who will Khan fight next?
If Khan really wanted that fight, and if it is as big of a money fight as they say it is, they could pay Brook's opponent step aside money and make it before June. Khan will once again regret waiting for Floyd. Slow learner.ReggieDiggs wrote:I've seen Amir bringing up Kell's name since its looking like his top two options with be fighting each other now. I looked up the Ramadan start date for this year, and it says it begins on June 18th. Plenty of time to get the Brook fight in, if Brook is fighting in March. I think they only fast during the daylight hours from what I read for a month, but makes it harder to train during that time.

Eh I don't think its logical to expect him to train during Ramadan.Badhusker wrote:If Khan really wanted that fight, and if it is as big of a money fight as they say it is, they could pay Brook's opponent step aside money and make it before June. Well I guess if Ramadan is earlier he can fight later in the year too. I don't see the need to rush Kell in the ring. Personally I think that fight gets a lil more interesting the more Kell proves. I mean to me Kell is basically a guy with one or two elite level wins. He could use some grooming & its not like a couple months is gonna hurt things all that much. There are so many solid fights happening this year I'm kinda okay with pushing some sh!t out til the 2nd half of the year cuz the first off of 2015 is looking pretty nice.

Re: Who will Khan fight next?
Maidana makes sense. In addition to the whole 'nearly beating Mayweather' thing there is also the subplot of Maidana having Khan in all sorts of bother when they first met.
Its a great opportunity for Khan to show how he has developed and a big, or at least very comfortable, win puts out the statement that he can do more than Mayweather. That in turn helps push him towards the big payday
