DeGale opponent for IBF belt April 25th?
DeGale opponent for IBF belt April 25th?
It's just been announced Froch has vacated the IBF title and DeGale will contest the vacant strap on the 25th of April in London. I had read him and Dirrell were being lined up to fight and I like the idea of that but would Dirrell come to London after all the bitching he done post Froch?

To be fair to Dirrel (who was incredibly irritating before the fight as well as after) he did beat Froch and has a right to be annoyed.Stuarty30 wrote:It's just been announced Froch has vacated the IBF title and DeGale will contest the vacant strap on the 25th of April in London. If Degale can do a job on him, then that will be a good win.
I think Degale would beat Froch at this stage in their careers to. I get the impression that Froch knows that too.

Possibility (well likelihood by the sound of it) of Selby v Gradovich on the card too.
Re: DeGale opponent for IBF belt April 25th?
I'm cynical. I'm more expecting it to be a soft opponent with a decent win/loss record, but nothing much else going for him. George Groves would be a better opponent than I am expecting. Been wrong before though.ScottDetonator wrote:IBF Rankings -

Middle weekend of The Crucible, so won't be watching it either way.

Just what I was thinking. Final eliminators and final, final eliminators at the ready!tony1234 wrote:I guess this will be PPV now

If its Groves fair enough pay per view but I don't think it will be. If its someone like Ramires or Dirrel shouldn't be pay per view in my opinion.tony1234 wrote:I guess this will be PPV now

Just read the beef on twitter between George and Eddie, I don't think it will be Groves now to be honest!

Hope it isn't ppv! Isn't Joshua fighting Johnson on this bill aswell?

It'll be Pay-Per-View. It's promoted by Hearn.ProMayhem wrote:Hope it isn't ppv! Isn't Joshua fighting Johnson on this bill aswell?

Yeah agree I thought Dirrell had it even though it was awful to watch. I fancy DeGale against both Froch and Dirrell at this stage also. Froch released a statement saying he could face DeGale later in the year but that's just posturing I reckon.big lennox wrote:To be fair to Dirrel (who was incredibly irritating before the fight as well as after) he did beat Froch and has a right to be annoyed.Stuarty30 wrote:It's just been announced Froch has vacated the IBF title and DeGale will contest the vacant strap on the 25th of April in London. Said on Sky negotiations have started with Dirrell. Genuine 50/50 fight. DeGale seems to have turned a corner and he has ground out a couple of wins over the last few years so I would give him a slight edge.

DeGale vs Andre Dirrell will be an awful mix of styles imo.

If Selby and Mitchell are in big fights, it's 100% PPV.
Re: DeGale opponent for IBF belt April 25th?
I can't believe we're debating whether this'll be Pay-Per-View or not.
Hearn would have three hours of himself masturbating on PPV, if he thought Sky could hype enough people to sell it.

Re: DeGale opponent for IBF belt April 25th?
Unless Dirrell pulls out, it will be him. He won't travel though unless they pay him stupid money and Hearn isn't going to win purse bids if it goes that far.

Firstly why did Froch vacate?
I think Groves would be the best money spinner surely then a fight against Froch 2 good money fights.

There are interviews on the page too but I wouldn't recommend watching them, it's enough to put you off your supper

Re: DeGale opponent for IBF belt April 25th?
DeGale v Ramirez is the most likely, easier fight for Degale, would set up the summer fight against groves at wembley and it means less money for Eddie to lay out but I hope I'm wrong and it is Dirrel
Groves
Smith
Selby
AJ
Chamberlain
Edwards
Davies
Maybe a few more London/South England lads to pad the card out and I can see Hearn making this a PPV

No chance in hell would Groves fight on a DeGale undercard, especially after the row with Hearn.Lion-Heart wrote:DeGale v Ramirez is the most likely, easier fight for Degale, would set up the summer fight against groves at wembley and it means less money for Eddie to lay out but I hope I'm wrong and it is Dirrel

This will be ppv I reckon with the Froch fight falling through. He will try to sell it as they need ppv to get Dirrell over. Selby world title on the undercard.

Wembley? DeGale-Groves would not fill it. The O2. It will take something special to fill Wembley again. It's a huge stadium.Lion-Heart wrote:DeGale v Ramirez is the most likely, easier fight for Degale, would set up the summer fight against groves at wembley and it means less money for Eddie to lay out but I hope I'm wrong and it is Dirrel

Re: DeGale opponent for IBF belt April 25th?
how does Dirrell fair against DeGale?
in an ideal world DeGale and Groves go and beat the Dirrell brothers and return with a title a piece for a unification fight at Wembley...
