I dont see that happening, especially being that Manny's a southpaw.
Floyd wont have the angles to deliver/land check hooks. Straight right potshots yeah sure
but definately i dont see Check hooks of Floyd landing on Manny. He's not a stationary target type foe like Hatton was, plus he doesnt fade in the late rounds like Hatton tended to do.

Shame on anyone who thought it would happen the 3rd through 20th time either side needed to stir the pot so they mention that they were in "talks" or that they "made an offer the other side refused", to get people talking.
If this fight doesn't happen, the fallout will be minimal, if there's even any at all. The fallout already happened.
Most lay-people don't care about a fighter's legacy and what fighter ducked another. They just want to see good fights on the particular night when they're tuned in.
Plus, even if they do fight, regardless of the result, it will probably be said that Floyd ran out the clock until Manny was old and/or had gotten KTFO. So it's a little tainted at this point.
It's still the biggest fight to be made, by far, but that's not saying much when boxing is such a niche sport.
I'd watch it for sure, but I don't expect it to happen, and neither should anyone else.

As most of you probably already know, Oscar has set the Alvarez/Kirkland fight in Texas on May 2nd. This is the date Floyd is planning on fighting, yet the opponent has yet TBD. Oscar has recently put some added pressure on TMT and Showtime, stating that there is only one fight that he will change the date for. We all know which fight that is.

Even though Floyd is the P4P king, he and Showtime stand to lose a lot of revenue going up against Alvarez on the same date.

This fight should've happened 6 years ago. In 2015 we should be talking about the fifth and final instalment of the series, not the first.

The blame for this lies firmly on Floyd's shoulders.

Even as I write this, Mayweather has yet to put ink to contract on this fight.
No doubt his creditors and the IRS will guide his hand.

Did you forget about Roach admitting the first time in 2009/10 that it not happening was their fault? Anyone that puts all the blame solely on one side is delusional.

Do you think Manny or Floyd would sign a contract before all of the negotiating is completed? I guess common sense just isn't that common anymore.

You're not wrong.

The bitching, whining & cursing is epidemic in some quarters now; imagine what it will be like if they don't announce that they're fighting?

We're going get years more of "X ducked Y" & "No, Y ducked X", etc etc.

If this fight were not going to happen then we'd hear from Manny by now. He gave a deadline that was the end of January but for some reason, he's extended that now over a week. I think that we will get an announcement within the next 3 days. Just a feeling.

That's just it!! Manny is in no position whatsoever to be dictating any deadlines whatsoever but as far as we know they are still in talks with one another.

I wouldn't write anything off until we have officially seen that both or one of them has already signed a deal to fight someone else.

Yes he is.

Any fighter can give a deadline, just as any fighter can ignore it. Just because you don't have the drawing power of your potential opponent doesn't mean you can't try to keep the ball rolling so you're not just sitting on your hands and waiting.

I know this may be hard for you to understand, but it's true.

I know any fighter can issue deadlines but his deadline has no bearing on this fight, if he walks away then he will be looked at as ducking again.

No he won't, because it's the big people behind the scenes sabotaging the fight this time. Brush Floyd's nuts from your face and you'll see this :TU:

We’ve heard all sorts of nonsense recently:
• We’re waiting for Floyd to sign the damn contract
• Floyd is too scared to sign the contract
• There is no contract
• Everything has been agreed, the official announcement will be made in a couple of days’ time
• HBO is at fault for introducing massive obstacles for Showtime to overcome
• HBO have tried their very best to make the fight happen
• Bob Arum is lying
• The networks have agreed
• Floyd has to agree to the fight within a deadline
• There isn’t a deadline for Floyd to sign the contract
• The fight is a done deal everything has been signed
• The fight isn't a done deal and there's still a long way to go
• Yadda… yadda… yadda…

I’m getting really bored of all this nonsense! It would have been much better if Team Pacquiao & Bob Arum adhered to the gagging order and all parties kept quiet until there was actually something worth announcing!

I think about half of what you listed above was put out in the media was by Bob Arum. People need to just quit believing what he says. Even his own team is wishing he would shut his old-assed mouth. Over the years it has been similar BS from him, and now more of the same.

That being said, I do think it will happen. It is kind of iffy if it happens May 2nd, which I think is why Arum is dragging it out somehow so he can say there isn't time to properly promote the fight for May 2nd. He never wanted the date in the first place.

I also think that Arum is dragging because he doesn't want May 2nd either.

He wants the fight to happen in June, and for once, I'd agree with Bob. We've waited long enough. Give Canelo the 2nd of May, and let's milk this fight's promotion for all it's worth.

Bob knows that in the end that everyone will blame Floyd even if Manny and Bob duck out of this fight.
