Froch asking for big City ground summer bout with B-Hop

Post by Looking On »

Not overly keen on the fight itself, but id be delighted if it gave the spotlight to a few local boxers such as Leigh Wood, Russ Henshaw, Jack McCormack and Corey Jackson. Although chances are as ive also seen said on facebook, it would be dissapointingly filled with Matchroom vs Journeyman.
These local up and comers need the exposure of a froch fight, so if they can get on the undercard then i really dont care who it is that froch fights.

I think this fight is acceptable at this stage of his career. It may not have as much action as one with JCC, but there would be enough needle in the build up to keep it entertaining, and I think Hops could still pose a style threat to Carl without ever being able to hurt him.

I really hope this is just gossip. I like Froch because of his all action style. The hopkins fight would be a hiding to nothing. If he wins: So what he's 50 and Kovalev schooled him. If he loses then he's just been beaten by a 50 year old. Hopkins style would cause Froch problems even at 50. I would back Froch all day to get the W but there are better fights out there for him.

Froch-Degale would fill the City Ground and would be much more meaningful and exciting., then he could box Chavez Jnr in Vegas in the Autumn

Froch Hopkins is a nothing fight really, it wouldnt be a great watch and it wouldnt do his 'legacy' anything really.

I am starting to think he should have hung them up as soon as he knocked out Groves at Wembley, it would have been a hell of a way to walk out of the sport.

Can't remember exactly what it is, but the criteria was changed at some point in the last few years, if you've been sentenced to more than a certain length of time, you'll be refused a visa, Hopkins got 18 years, which is well over the limit.

Froch is obviously looking to add to his retirement fund by fighting a big name.

Fair enough though really; if anyone's earnt a big last payday he has.

But I'm in agreement that I wouldn't really want to see the fight and would prefer to see him in with Degale.

It also does his status over the pond no harm in the build up to the Chavez fight

I would have liked to see Froch fight Degale, but he's probably earned the right to pick and chose the big paydays in his last couple of fights.

And in 20 years time, the name Hopkins (even 50 year old Hopkins) on his CV will probably earn more recognition than Degale.

also, I couldn't lose any more respect for the man than I did when he went on tumble, so it wont damage his reputation in my eyes.

I'd prefer Froch v Kovalev.

So far Froch has chased, a fight with Chavez, who's not actually that good (he was struggling with Brian Vera last year) a 'rubber match' with Kessler, who's shot and semi retired, now Hopkins a 50 year old bloke who's coming off career ending pasting.

BUT not once (NOT ONCE) has he shown any interest (as his did with Kessler) in avenging the Andre Ward loss.

Beating Ward, now THAT'S the way to end his career.

Fat pension fight for both. I think there's a good chance it happens. Hopkins will get in no bother,

Would be a frustrating 12 rounds for Froch. Apart from Hopkins being a 'legend' and probably making this a big draw fight - what will Froch get out of it apart from money? Winning on points after 36 minutes of being grappled and hugged by an old man.

Isn't Froch sponsored by Betfair? Must be because he's desperate to cash out.

I mentioned this on a different thread but I think this is a terrible fight.

Froch can't come out with credit from this one and the fight won't be a spectacle. At best, if he wins, there will be a significant amount of 'well he beat a 50 year old, weight drained man who got bashed up in his last fight'. And, if he loses, then the critics will have a field day.

I'd rather see him have another go with Pascal or someone similar. At least then if that turns out to be his last fight he will go out after a really entertaining scrap.

Hopkins would talk a good fight and sell the place out.

Looks like Froch sees it as a perfect end to his career. A win over a legend at his football clubs stadium. Every boys dream.

Utterly pointless event. It makes Froch's previous choice of Chavez seem reckless by comparison. It's all very well saying he's earned an easy payday, but who's going to pay to watch that cr@p?

Terrible fight. Had Hopkins not been utterly schooled by Kovalev I could see some interest in it, but he was totally dominated in the Kovalev fight.

I suppose if froch managed to stop him it would be an achievement of sorts, but quite how they can hype this one up is beyond me. Even Adam Smith would have a problem getting excited about this.

Fight a live opponent or retire. Should rematch Dirrell or fight Chunky.

I don't know who's become the most tedious since the second fight Froch or Groves, sick to death of the pair of them.
