BJS Vs. Andy Lee purse bids
Re: BJS Vs. Andy Lee purse bids
Me too, it should be a great year with Bnation if they keep up with the domestic bills and continue with the overseas bills too. I remember Eddie saying £16.95 is good value for the Clev-Bell PPV so for £12 a MONTH for even an average month we get great value.
Re: BJS Vs. Andy Lee purse bids
If he wants a world title then he's probably got a shot at the IBF if he wants it. Taylor is having to vacate, N'Dam is first in line, then Sturm, who's moved up to 12st and will probably fight Stieglitz again, then Saunders. Or he could defend the European against Michel Soro, Frank won the purse bids for that last week with 153,000 euros, would be a good fight for him and £85k in his pocket. I think he'll fight the winner of Lee-Quillin though, they'll be hoping it's Lee because the money will be better.JimJim2009 wrote:perhaps plan B is for Saunders to face the winner of Eubank's pretend WBA championship fight. If that guy (forgotten his name) beats Eubank then he's viable for Saunders, if Eubank wins, the return is a natural, and a bigger fight than last time. Holding that crappy pretend WBA belt puts you in the frame for the moment the proper WBA champ makes a career move that vacates the WBA title. Fwank is particularly adept at steering his fighters to opportunities like that.ChieftanDublin wrote:Apparently its now a done deal for Lee to fight Peter Quillin, and BJS to get step aside money. Seems quite bizarre that allegedly wouldn't insist on Lee defending against Saunders. I'm a fan of Andy Lee, but don't see him beating Quillin, and then Saunders is left out in the cold. Quillin will have the title again and he wont defend it against Saunders. Maybe I'm missing something here????

I'm not too sure - I don't think there would be enough interest in a Quillin-Saunders fight. Can't see US tv being interested and can't imagine Quillin would travel for it. I'd say a Saunders/Eubank interim title fight looks most likely. I think Saunders has missed the boat on this one.

I see the Lee/Quillin fight will on be on allegedly...thats good news especially if it is indeed on the Garcia/Peterson bill. Great if allegedly has got all the NBC fights
Re: BJS Vs. Andy Lee purse bids
Saunders is mandatory, he's taken the step aside money but the winner has to fight him. Haymon has some sort of magical spell with TV, he can get any shite on there, some of his NBC shows are in the afternoon so I'm not sure he'd be bothered by Quillin travelling, it's the sort of fight Frank will fork out for to get home advantage.ChieftanDublin wrote:I'm not too sure - I don't think there would be enough interest in a Quillin-Saunders fight. I think its fair to say mandatory doesnt mean a whole lot. Thats twice now Saunders has passed on the chance to take a title fight (he stepped aside to let Lee get the shot in the first place). I dont think Frank would be able to fork out enough money to entice Quillin over to the UK. Saunders/Quillin wouldnt exactly be a stadium fight.
Re: BJS Vs. Andy Lee purse bids
When it's a allegedly fighter with the WBO, it means a lot. It matters unless the champion is someone like Mayweather, who never fights mandatories. Frank isn't afraid to lose money to get home advantage for his fighters, if Saunders wins he'll make it back further down the line, if he can't afford it, he has Bill Ives money behind him to make it happen.ChieftanDublin wrote:I think its fair to say mandatory doesnt mean a whole lot. You probably know more about it than I do, but I really would be amazed if we ever saw a Quillin/BJS fight. But anyway hopefully I'm wrong and Lee will win and then we can have a big Lee/BJS fight in late summer
Re: BJS Vs. Andy Lee purse bids
Quillin might vacate rather than travel, but Saunders will fight for the title, hopefully against Lee because it's a bigger fight, but I wouldn't mind the Quillin fight either. As long as he fights one of the two, in England or Ireland, I'm happy.ChieftanDublin wrote:expe wrote:When it's a allegedly fighter with the WBO, it means a lot. Eddie was telling a massive lie though! Terrible value for that particular fight. Worst ppv in the history of the entire sport...digzee wrote:Me too, it should be a great year with Bnation if they keep up with the domestic bills and continue with the overseas bills too. Whilst I totally agree it was a disgrace to boxing surely Haye v Harrison was worselillywhite14 wrote:Eddie was telling a massive lie though! Terrible value for that particular fight. At least Haye was a world class fighter I gues! Harrison never had any right to be in the ring that night.

Re: BJS Vs. Andy Lee purse bids
Yeah, even though the Harrison bout was always likely to be shockingly one-sided, at least Haye was a genuine PPV fighter at the time, and I guess there's always the element of 'what if a big punch lands' with heavyweights which made it a bit intriguing. The Cleverly vs Bellew PPV was just a joke from start to finish.
