Amir Khan: I'd Fight Miguel Cotto at 155 in a Heartbeat!
Re: Amir Khan: I'd Fight Miguel Cotto at 155 in a Heartbeat!
A heartbeat is something Khan would lack if he fought Cotto. He has no intention of fighting Miguel, the very idea of it is laughable, he's just name dropping.

One of the few times I agree with you.Ricky_ wrote:A heartbeat is something Khan would lack if he fought Cotto. He has no intention of fighting Miguel, the very idea of it is laughable, he's just name dropping.
Khan just likes to here himself talk.
Re: Amir Khan: I'd Fight Miguel Cotto at 155 in a Heartbeat!
i don't think this is a terrible matchup for
khan. i for one figure cotto is past prime
and if amir can keep his composure, he
could book a relatively close UD.

Cotto is no bigger than khan he's not a middle weight and I see cotton as a easy way to win the middle weight belt,
Close fight that could go either way

I don't hate this fight. Idk if I can see Miguel taking him up on it or not. It'd be a good fight to make though. Miguel feeling like the man lately. Don't think this many people have been talking about Miguel since he was 140lb champion.
Miguel by late KO as I don't see Amir being able to jump up 8lbs successfully (& its not that long ago he jumped up 7lbs) & Miguel would be one of the strongest cats he's faced I believe ever, but certainly above 140lbs.

I like it that Khan is thinking for himself and he is an ambitious boxer; like all Cotto and Khan bouts it'll have good boxing and excitement, I imagine Cotto would take the bout.

Amir Khan continues to place his name along side the sport's biggest names ... but I'm not sure he beats Shawn Porter.
But it's funny how the same people bashing Haymon for BS fights would be willing to watch Cotto completely demolish Khan within 5 rounds ... the fight might even be PPV.
Khan is around a rematch with Maidana, the Thurman/Guerrero winner, Porter or even a guy like Diego Chaves ... there's no way Khan belongs on a PPV marquee. He is simply not pay worthy.

Cotto would be a nightmare match-up for Khan. Would likely be a re-run of the Garcia fight - Miguel would probably have a bad first 3 or 4 rounds until he landed a hard accurate counter which would effectively finish the fight.

Re: Amir Khan: I'd Fight Miguel Cotto at 155 in a Heartbeat!
after his last fight, it can now be argued khan deserves a shot at one of the 147 titles.
out of the guys at 147 who don't have titles, i might put him in my top 5.
khan fighting for 154lb title is a joke and for a 160 title is insane.
cotto was an opportunist who already held a 154 title in order to get that WBC 160,
and the first world class middle he fights he will lose it. khan has barely established
himself at welter and will have a hard time getting past brook, the weakest of the
titlists at 147. khan may as well talk about how he could be a great mountain climber
if the mountain would move just a little closer to him and bend over a little

Re: Amir Khan: I'd Fight Miguel Cotto at 155 in a Heartbeat!
I wonder what Khan would say if someone like Andrade or Lara offered him a fight?
Khan is a sack of shit, plain and simple, and looking for the easiest payday without risk. Khan and mindsets like his is what is wrong with boxing.
I wish Cotto would call his bluff. What would he do then? What a freaking joke. Cotto is a paper title holder, but just the thought of Khan getting that belt makes me want to throw up.

Cotto seems to be looking to fight a welter at 155 for the mw lineal belt. So I guess between Khan and Bradley, Khan is the more appealing fight. If he wins, his mando is GGG lol

If Khan wants a super fight let's see him in the ring with GGG.Purse Bid Shakedown wrote:Cotto seems to be looking to fight a welter at 155 for the mw lineal belt. So I guess between Khan and Bradley, Khan is the more appealing fight. If he wins, his mando is GGG lol
Yep I would pay big money to see GGG beat Khan half to death

Cotto is not a middleweight but I gotta disagree that he isn't bigger than Khan.stevedoc wrote:Cotto is no bigger than khan he's not a middle weight and I see cotton as a easy way to win the middle weight belt,

MC would destroy Khan inside of 4 rounds.

Cotto should fight a genuine MW or be stripped imo. Catch-weights shouldn't be allowed for title fights.

As much as I would like to tell myself that this wont happen, the truth is that it may very well be possible. It doesn't seem as if cotto wants to fight guys who aren't going to give a nice sized pay day. With the first defense being voluntary, if he cannot get Floyd or canelo (pac obviously isn't available as they have the same trainer), khan would arguably be the next biggest name. Its also attractive for Miguel as its a fight that he would be favored to win. For some of us true fans its kinda sad to see this kinda stuff go on but eventually things will fix themselves.

I'M GETTING SICK OF THIS BLOKE PROSITUTING HIMSELF TO ANYONE THAT WILL LISTEN, FIGHT THE COLUMBIAN THAT ICED YOU YEAR'S AGO OR NOT ENOUGH DOUGH.
Re: Amir Khan: I'd Fight Miguel Cotto at 155 in a Heartbeat!
Roach will not let Cotto fight somebody as fast as Amir. If not Mayweather, Cotto will fight Bradley who can move but is being dumb deciding to stand and trade with his opponents.

If Khan thought he would school Porter, he would have fought him instead of Alexander. Why fight the guy that was beat up by Porter? It makes no sense other than it was a much safer fight stylistically for Khan. Khan still says Brook is not on his level, even though Brook beat Porter. If Khan would have schooled Porter instead of Alexander, he would have a valid claim, but he didn't have the confidence to take that fight.

Re: Amir Khan: I'd Fight Miguel Cotto at 155 in a Heartbeat!
I think Kell fighting Shawn is probably why Amir passed on him right now. Amir is obviously trying to fry much bigger fish than Kell. If he fights the guy Kell just beat it just brings comparisons with Kell up all the more. Amir's as delusional as the next elite level boxer with his success vs anyone, he has to believe he can beat EVERYBODY & have a high level of positivity about his skills.Badhusker wrote:danamba7 wrote:I think he'd school Porter to be fairBAD INTENTIONS wrote:Amir Khan continues to place his name along side the sport's biggest names ... but I'm not sure he beats Shawn Porter.

Fans project their own feelings on boxers so hard lol. The average person is thinking "I can't" all day or many times a day at best. I believe people achieving sh!t on a high level, boxers for example, are saying "I can" or "I will" all day or many times a day at worst. Mindset is huge & you gotta be a little stubborn about the reality people want you to believe to be successful imho.

Maidana made $1.5m in the first fight with Floyd.
Carl Froch made $12m for Groves 2.
Hyping a big domestic world title fight against Brook in the UK is more lucrative than fighting Floyd. Only future revenue from beating Floyd if Khan thinks he can win outweighs the prospect of Brook.
Re: Amir Khan: I'd Fight Miguel Cotto at 155 in a Heartbeat!
Khan would obviously make way more than 1.5m fighting Floyd though. It would be PPV over here in the UK and do very good numbers. Its not like Floyd would be taking 90% of the UK money too.Ricky_ wrote:fergusg wrote:I don’t dislike Kell Brook in anyway, but in terms of the world stage, he’s an anonymous name.
