If the fight was held in the UK Farr would have got the decision. It was hard to actually see the fight in this film as there was too much extraneous material continuously interjected.

I thought the announcer said that it was Farr who hurt his hand early in the fight.

Im pretty sure that Joe Louis had said in his 1977 autobiography MY LIFE,
that it was his hand(Louis's) that he had hurt hitting Tommy Farr in the head.
I also think I read somewhere that Louis was carried out of the ring on a strecher.

I just watched the whole fight on your link. It was a very close fight. The ref's voting 13 rounds to 1 for Louis was an obvious fraud. The crowd booed the decision. I didn't see any indication that Louis was hurt and needed a stretcher. I didn't see any indication that either one of them had been hurt.

But Joe Louis said in newspaper interviews after the fight that he had hurt his right hand in the third round and had also bruised his left.
Which was the reason he couldnt finish Farr off in the seventh round, because he wasnt able to punch as hard with them as usual.

11:17 of the documentary, beginning of round three:
"Farr was now cut, and had injured his most potent weapon, his right hand".

Ghost-written of course, as Joe Louis was illiterate.
Re: Tommy Farr Documentary(1997)
Could we not just get down to the fact that Louis won the decision, and Farr accepted that he had been beaten. Clearly stated by Farr in another TV production.

Was wondering about that.... what's shocking to me is the language in the biography... Joe always seemed so humble quiet, reserved, etc. (of course I do realize he had to in those turbulent times) but still, is odd seeing Louis say "sonofabitch" and "balls".x2x wrote:Ghost-written of course, as Joe Louis was illiterate.

He also seemed to want to use the word 'sh*t' more then a few times in that particular autobiography(as told to Art and Edna Rust).
So maybe he picked up swearing in the VA HospitAL the same time he picked up smoking?
Or maybe the co-writers just wanted Joe Louis to sound more'hip" in 1977?

Art Rust Jr had an excellent sports radio show in NYC. He was a boxing fan and talked about boxing a lot. He was a huge fan of Gerry Cooney, who could have and should have become the champ.
