How do you think this fight plays out?
Can Bradley outbox Cotto or will MC be too much with his ability to cut off the ring and body punching?

Great fight

I think so, I'm hoping that they make it at a CW even though Tim can make 154 easily.

I don't know that tim has the punching power to keep Miguel out of attack mode. I would expect Miguel to win and look good doing it. Cant blame Bradley for going after the money but I hope that he doesn't plan to campaign at this weight beyond this fight because I don't see it going well for him. 140 or 147 are his best options In my opinion.
Re: COTTO says BRADLEY is the back-up plan!!
Pretty easy fight for Cotto if it takes place at 154 or above. Can't shake the image of how easily Provo hit him. Manny as well.
You have to think someone with Miguel's skillset is going to have a field day...

Re: COTTO says BRADLEY is the back-up plan!!
it seems everybody fancies a go at cotto these days, it's a hard fight to gauge, cotto looked good against rodriguez and sergio but sergio was pretty much finished really and bradley looked awful in his last two fights, they say your only as good as your last fight though so that would make cotto the favorite in this one, that being said i think bradley could take this one on points in what i imagine would be a frustrating kinda fight with cotto looking for a shootout and bradley very much boxing on the back foot.
Re: COTTO says BRADLEY is the back-up plan!!
Cotto is a better boxer than Bradley and a better all around fighter. The only thing I might give Bradley a edge on is durability and even then I don't know if that's the case if it happens at 154. Cotto will beat Bradley convicingly and possibly be the first man to stop him if this fight happens. Cotto is and always will be a class above Bradley and if they fight, you will see why.

Re: COTTO says BRADLEY is the back-up plan!!
if he even goes one weight class down it needs to be a titlist at that class with a great
resume like cotto had when he got his shot. i understand cotto is not a real middleweight
and doesn't want to fight real middles, but that's tough because he has a middleweight title
so the WBC needs law down the law. fight ranked middles or future hall of fame titlists from one
class down or give up the title. discussing welterweight contenders for a middleweight title is
a joke. there are middleweight contenders who earned their rankings. go back down to welter
if you want to fight welters

He doesn't need to. Trout isn't a firecracker of a puncher. BUT Bradley doesn't have the physical attributes of Trout.
Re: COTTO says BRADLEY is the back-up plan!!
I have a really hard time with accepting that SM was finished, maybe Cotto just made him look that way. Now I'm not saying Sergio was 100% but I think he was far from finished, this is a man who had just beaten basically a CW in Chavez just months earlier and now all of a sudden he is finished, I don't buy it.meahdem wrote:it seems everybody fancies a go at cotto these days, it's a hard fight to gauge, cotto looked good against rodriguez and sergio but sergio was pretty much finished really and bradley looked awful in his last two fights, they say your only as good as your last fight though so that would make cotto the favorite in this one, that being said i think bradley could take this one on points in what i imagine would be a frustrating kinda fight with cotto looking for a shootout and bradley very much boxing on the back foot.

Exactly!! Trout is taller, with a better/longer jab than Tim's plus he is bigger and is built up size-wise to be able to better deal with someone that is naturally in that weight class. Bradley walks around at about 155 or so and it's going to help him moving up but still he will be small for Jr MW and without decent punching power I can see a scenario where Cotto simply walks right through him while cutting off the ring and beating him up.
Re: COTTO says BRADLEY is the back-up plan!!
he fought chavez two years before cotto and murray the year before cotto, he'd had a couple of major operations on his chips and peas, and he was poor against murray infact i reckon if murray had been more aggressive that night he could of stopped him, and you can defo make an argument for murray winning that night, so in my opinion he was done by the time cotto got him.

True however, I can't see Cotto battering Tim up like he did others if Pacquiao couldn't do it. Also I think Tim and Cotto are closer in size than many think. Tim is pretty tough which is why I always thought Bradley was one of Pacquiao's more impressive wins. While Cotto maybe more talented, I think Tim is the ultimate overachiever while Cotto kind of didn't live up to his expactations.
Re: COTTO says BRADLEY is the back-up plan!!
Without a doubt Bradley was an impressive win by Manny and I thought Tim was going to be able to beat him clearly the second time around but Pacquioa showed his diversity and boxing skills and that he is capable of making adjustments. I think it will be an interesting fight but I just can't see TB taking a battering like he did against Ruslan and being able to walk out of the ring, Cotto doesn't have a huge size advantage but I think he hits hard enough and is faster than many give him credit for.IKSRTFO wrote:True however, I can't see Cotto battering Tim up like he did others if Pacquiao couldn't do it. It will be soooo funny if WW Bradley will become a lineal MW champ
According to boxrec, Bradley has a 2-inch reach advantage. He walks at 170-175, so Cotto will not have a size advantage. I would give Tim at least 25% chance of winning.

He doesn't have KO power but no one walks through Tim's shots. Peterson, Alexander, and even Pacquiao didn't walk through Tim's shots. Ruslan maybe but Cotto isn't iron-chinned at all. If he didn't walk through Floyd's shots then he isn't walking through Tim's shots neither.

I think Floyd hits much harder than Bradley, I think Cotto will be able to walk through his shots, he walked through Sergio's and he hits harder than Mayweather.IKSRTFO wrote:fergusg wrote:It doesn’t really matter if a rehydrated Timothy Bradley enters the ring weighing around the same as Miguel Cotto; his feather-fisted shots aren’t powerful enough to punch his way out of a paper bag!ikorolev wrote:It will be soooo funny if WW Bradley will become a lineal MW champAccording to boxrec, Bradley has a 2-inch reach advantage. Re: COTTO says BRADLEY is the back-up plan!!
Sergio couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag on that night. 100% Sergio would've hurt Cotto for real. Marquez wasn't exactly walking through Bradley's shots neither. And people forget Ruslan was just as in danger of being stopped as Bradley was. Roach was threatening to pull the plug because of the punishment Ruslan was taking.KBB wrote:

Re: COTTO says BRADLEY is the back-up plan!!
Ruslan needed a long time to recover after the Bradley fight (Tim of course needed more). Besides, MW version of Bradley will likely hit much harder than the WW version.

Timothy Bradley is a much better boxer than he's gets credit for.
I think he can lower Cotto's output and win a close decision.

Re: COTTO says BRADLEY is the back-up plan!!
Interesting fight if it comes off. Sad if this happens for the middleweight title, but as a fight I see it being pretty close. Bradley might be worth a small bet if Cotto is as favoured as some in here see him.
Re: COTTO says BRADLEY is the back-up plan!!
Didn't Bradley fight at 152 in the amateurs? I know he was a huge drainer as a jr welter, and will possibly have more power if he fights Cotto at 155. Fairly even fight in my eyes, with the edge to Cotto, unless he gets cut.
Re: COTTO says BRADLEY is the back-up plan!!
Yep, he fought at 152 along with Angulo, Ward, Dirrell and Berto. Ward stated that Bradley was his one of his hardest fights as an amateur.Badhusker wrote:Didn't Bradley fight at 152 in the amateurs? I favour Cotto, but like i mentioned above, think it's a great fight. Bradley is much faster than Cotto.
Re: COTTO says BRADLEY is the back-up plan!!
Tim Bradley is a decent boxer, but how he fights at 154 or higher and maintains his level of ability is beyond me.
