Re: Froch
Isn't the first part of the problem with this thread is Carl is f#cking injured & isn't fighting ANYONE yet? How can you duck anyone anyway if you're injured.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Here's the problem with the logic I'm hearing.
Froch isn't getting Chavez Jr anytime soon.
Froch isn't fighting anyone better than Hopkins.
So regardless of his past, regardless of what his reasons are, Froch is ducking the BEST AVAILABLE opponent.
Note to self, I need to just ignore duck threads. They are like schoolyard playground logic sorta bs silliness & like a conspiracy theory threads about 9/11 or Bigfoot & aliens with all the "this means that" jumps made.
Re: Froch
Frankly, I am not sure if the injury is real. It is just too convenient allowing to avoid dealing with Chavez who is in legal limbo and also would likely have problems making 168 and avoid the mandatory defense against DeGale.

Re: Froch
This is the same thing Calzaghe basically said about Froch at the time Froch was demanding a fight between the two. People in glass houses and all that.fergusg wrote:"DeGale doesn't make any financial or business sense for me, my promoter or the TV broadcasters.
"His promoter is almost begging me to take the fight but he's not a big enough name..."

second this thought. i only have respect forSNG wrote:FFS.
A fighter proves time and again his willingness to travel and fight the best around and decides he wants a payday before he retires and you come out with this bull poo? Pathetic.
No wonder most fighters don't do what Carl did, what's the point when he doesn't even get respect off fans for it?
the man, who to me is a reincarnation of a
boxer generation long gone by. perfect work
ethic, talking straight, being respectful to
everyone, while ducking no one. he took fights
others would not have taken.
Re: Froch
I am well aware of Carl's clear statements about the DeGale fight. However, most of casual fans would still label him a duck if he would just vacate the title. Vacating due to an injury is more convenient.fergusg wrote:I assume that you’re not an avid follower of Carl Froch?ikorolev wrote:Frankly, I am not sure if the injury is real. Froch has loudly and persistently stated that he has no interest in fighting James DeGale and has often claimed that he was willing to vacate his IBF world title to make sure he fulfils his dream of boxing in Las Vegas.
Re: Froch
No it's not, James is mandatory and Carl only became Joe's after he moved to 175 and fought Hopkins. Still, very similar, I hope it isn't lost on Carl.fergusg wrote:Not quite the same situation, but I see your point.Baby Face Finster wrote:This is the same thing Calzaghe basically said about Froch at the time Froch was demanding a fight between the two. Re: Froch
It's not like froch is running away from hopkins in terror lol. The fact is froch wants a memorable last fight that makes money and has a name that brings fans or a style that creates a classic.
What the fornicate is hopkins bringing to the table, he's 50 years old, just got dominated by kovalev and his style would put the crowd of gatti vs ward to sleep, all he brings is his name and after his last wooping that name doesn't mean too much.
This fight doesnt sell, for the record I think froch wins a close decision, can'tsay I'm bothered if this fight never happens, would rather see froch v degale.

Re: Froch
Froch's goal isn't just to headline a big card in Vegas. That's obvious because the most prestigious and available fight for him is Hopkins.
Froch wants to WIN a big fight in Vegas like Joe Calzaghe. That's why he's gunning for Chaves Jr. because of the high likelihood that he'd win while landing clean punches.
Also, how much more of a purse does Froch get from Chavez Jr. over Hopkins, who can bill this fight as his retirement fight.

Re: Froch
Its also to make money. Hop vs Froch is not ppv, Chavez is, and an action fight. Chavez also sucks, which helps lol. Everyone gunning for him.Chavez is the only ppv name above Canelo weight 155.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Froch's goal isn't just to headline a big card in Vegas. IMO he could make more money fighting Degale, GGG or even Hopkins in the UK.

Re: Froch
He's an "elite level athlete" he just needs to say it more often and then he'll get the fight he deserves. :-)
Re: Froch
Jesus Christ, I've seen it all now. One of the worst threads I've ever seen! First of all, don't finish an opinion with "Anybody saying different is retarded." People are allowed to have differing opinions!
Secondly, this word "ducking" is getting thrown around far too much. How can people be so fickle when a fighter like Froch has fought the best in the division back to back (Bar Mack).
Do you seriously think hes scared of Hopkins or Degale? Most people didn't like the sound of the Hopkins fight anyway, saying if he wins hes only beat the guy Kovalev already dominated. If he loses it's a terrible end to his career getting beat by a 50 year old. Now Froch is echoing those statements and all of a sudden he's "ducking".
It just shows that no fighter is safe on this forum no matter how much they've achieved!

Re: Froch
Apart from the ridiculous Groves 1 stoppage which was not his fault Carl Froch has been almost everything you'd want in a pro boxer.
As far as I'm concerned Carl Froch is in a very small group of boxers who can fight whoever he wants considering his service to the sport.
Last time I checked Carl wanted a fight in Vegas, the powers that be should be pulling every string possible to grant him his wish ... he's earned it.
