What does this even mean? I mean if we are just trying to get fighter A in the ring with fighter B of course there is always going to have been some way that coulda happened if idk the world depended on it or w/e. Thing is it doesn't & Paul was never the first guy in line for Floyd, thus if he fights Paul he's dodging Ricky or he's dodging Shane or whoever.

When you are the top guy on the food chain there is always guys you can't or won't be able to fight for some reason. Its a conveniently avoided topic, just like Paul was never the #1 option is conveniently forgotten over him being allegedly the best guy Floyd never fought. The reality is if Floyd had fought Paul & beaten him just like he's beaten everyone else (& if Carlos Quintana & Erislandy can outbox you Floyd surely would have too) than Ricky or Shane would be conveniently mentioned as the guy Floyd ducked & the best guy Floyd never fought & we'd be having this same discussion just with different names cuz people don't like Floyd & like to downplay his skill & accomplishments.

And I mean look at the names on Floyd's resume when Paul was somebody (2007-2012) post-Antonio:

Oscar (hofer, multi division champion, the guy who put Floyd where he is today as the sports biggest draw)
Ricky (undefeated two division champion at the time, was coming off a KO1 of Jose Luis Castillo who gave Floyd his toughest fight)
Juan Manuel (hofer, multi division champion)
Shane Mosley (hofer, multi division champion)
Victor (title holder, in foty fight previous to Floyd)
Miguel (hofer, multi division champion)

Now obviously one of these things is not like the other. Victor stands out like a sore thumb. Thing is Paul had gotten blasted by Sergio the year before so he's not really a guy that Floyd would fight at that stage. But take one of these guys off of Floyd's resume & tell me his resume gets stronger if we were to put Paul in their place & not know you're telling a damn lie lol.

Floyd Mayweather could not have fought Kostya Tszyu, because he was almost continuously injured for two years when both men were active world champions and the Showtime-HBO network rivalry issue also prevented the possibility for this bout being made.

crucial exception.

but to hold against him that he didn't fight
paul williams around the time when he himself
took on oscar and ricky seems outright ridiculous
to me. i might be mistaken, but paul was a rising
prospect at that time and not on par with either of
the mentioned seasoned veterans who were definitely
bigger draws too.

size and age is what matters.
people hate because hatton was a midget and oscar old.
while guys like margarito, cotto and williams were prime and either tall or build strong.
floyd got mad respect when boxing young strong canelo.
also he got respect for boxing a strong 154 cotto version.
so it aint like people are hating out of the blue and forgeting what great achievemants he had, although his fights are flat out all boring and thats not hating just my oppinion, i wish he was just more entertaining to watch than one shot pause boxing.

and thats also something i like about pac, the dude is freakin 5′ 6½″, a mini midget haha...
and he fights and beats guys who are 5′ 10″ algieri, 5′ 11″ margarito, guys like clottey, who is build like a tank. its like floyd taking on golovkin and quillon.
