Thurman vs Guerrero

Post by davie »

This is an interesting match up and should be an entertaining bout.
It's not an easy one to call, but I'm leaning to Thurman.

but this should be a real test in a number of ways, it's a step up from his previous opposition, It'll tell us how hard he really hits as Robert is a tough dude and his stamina will be tested too and it'll let us see how well he boxes as he wont be able to simply go after Guerrero the way he has previous opponents.

I wouldn't write Guerrero off, as he's a damn good fighter, but i think Thurman could take his first really big scalp here

PS it's definitely Floyds fault!

Thurman is younger. Thurman has the lessor ring mileage. I think it's a good match up. I doubt Thurman will have it easy in there. I'd favor Thurman.

Guerrero is easy to hit, and flat-footed.. he will answer some questions about Thurman but he will not win.

Thurman by easy KO in about 7 rounds after thoroughly dominating the entire fight. Guerrero has no defense whatsoever, Keith can box or brawl, fight inside or out and is much faster than the Ghost too.

I don't see anything in Guerrero that troubles KT, Ghost isn't a big puncher, is slow, no defense/too easy to hit and gets hit a lot, and can't counterpunch well enough.

Good matchup. Guerrero is the best fighter Thurman will have faced. However, I think Thurman passes the test and wins by decision.
Thurman is the naturally bigger guy and is the bigger puncher. I also think Thurman being younger and quicker will help.

I hope Thurman KO's Guerrero into next week. I can't put my finger on it but I have simply never liked Guerrero. There's just something there that irks me.

I want a matchup between Danny Garcia's Dad Angel and Robert Guerrero's Dad Ruben.

Ghost must not get lured into the type of brawl he had with Kamegai when he faces Keith.

If he is not disciplined. it will be a short and easy night for Thurman.

Ghost must box and use movement, pile up points.

He can...but he wont't.

This is Keith's first top ten or what I'd call "elite" opponent so I'm pretty curious & excited to see how this one goes down. This is either gonna go a long way in showing how much hype Keith had or how much substance he has.

I gotta go with Keith, but Robert isn't a walk in the park, or shouldn't be anyway. Keith by decision.

I think it will be another fight where Thurman sticks to boxing and wins a UD like he did against Bundu and that would be the smart thing to do. This is a tough fight to call, but I think it's Thurmans fight to win or lose depending on how he decides to fight. Guerrero is durable and resilient and definitely has a better inside game than Thurman.

Great fight. I can see Thurman winning this one by a TKO due to cuts or some kind of stoppage due to injury because Guerrero won't get knocked out but he is super easy to hit.

The Ghost will stop Thurman from dancing and make it an inside fight but Guerrero seems to lack the type of one punch power that could spell trouble for the young boxer with a lisp and a sketchy chin.

If Guerrero can cut this distance and smother Thurman this one will be very interesting... Odds are Thurman gets on his bike and leaves us with a lot of questions about the hype but ultimately wins...

If I had to bet on this one, I would pick Thurman by a split decision. I don't think he has the power to KO Guerrero, as Ghost has a pretty solid chin. Guerrero will make it a fight I think, rough Thurman up, and it will be closer than most think. Thurman was rocked by an average puncher, (Soto Karass?)so he needs to fight smart too. Neither guy looked elite last time out, but sometimes guys fight to the level of opposition.

Very interesting fight, and a win by either guy won't shock me.

Seems that this is fairly even fight based upon the comments. I'm looking forward to this fight on Network TV.

The Ghost is double tough and no way does Thurman stop him. Despite the hype, he's no Tommy Hearns.

Still, Thurman is a talented fighter and with the advantages in natural strength, power and speed, he should be able to cop a decision.
But Guerrero will introduce him to what fighting a quality fighter is all about.

This is a really great match and for me, the best so far this year.

Two top fighters in their weight class, one is a highly rated contender, the other a tough former 2(or 3)-weight world champion.

Should be a good one.
