Carson Jones/Brian Rose Rematch???

Post by drew kim »

What kind of money do you think they would offer Carson? Around $50,000?

Who would really want to see it again. Rose has been KO'd, harshly or not, against by a 36-10 fighter who is a bona fide welter. His level is European at best.

I'd rather see Rose step down a level and try to build himself up, he is and will never be world class, but there are still some good domestic fights out there for him

i agree, i think he does need a rebuilding process and it goes without saying he'll never be world class. i wish him all the best.

Regardless of your feelings over the stoppage this has really stalled Rose's career & without a Jones rematch he'll be stuck at domestic level. Problem is, even back in Rose's hometown they'll struggle to sell this as a headliner again, which means they won't be able to offer Jones enough money to come back over.

it would cost a lot more than it cost them for his rematch with maxwell for the british title, and
that was 2 years later. the thing is, he won the lonsdale outright so to keep fighting for it seems
redundant and he's not really good enough to even beat the EU champ, never mind the EBU,
so what would rose be trying to achieve?

jones would probably come back for less money after a few losses and he might get fights
against some better opponents after this win which could lead to losses, but what would be
the point if rose has nowhere to go after avenging the loss to jones? rose was doing ok in the
round before eating that first overhand right and he doesn't take punches at an international level,
so he needs make a few adjustments and have a comeback fight against someone SAFE, but it's
never going to lead beyond what he has already achieved. it depends on if he enjoys the sport
and wants to keep going just for the sake of competing.
