Am I alone in thinking this......
With the constant back and forth regarding the Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao super fight happening (or not) etc and for it has dragged on so long that I couldn't care either way if it happens or not. Because first of all I am not a fanboy of either fighter as I find myself left cold when I watch Mayweather fight regardless of whoever he is in, and while Pacquiao is more of an action fighter and a very likeable chap. I am just meh!!! Because they are so good they don't seem to put a definite stamp on fights. Okay granted Mayweather was fighting Canelo Alvarez and Marcos Maidana. One is a huge Light-Middle who can dig and the other is a heavy handed pressure fighter he didn't seem to take enough risks (even a calcuated one) against Maidana.
While Pacquiao couldn't shift Brandon Rios because he is on hardassed motherfucker who I love watching. And as for Chris Aligeri he bounced him off the canvas six times in the fight but he didn't finish the job, whether it is through Pacquiao losing that fire because of his born Christianity or the miles on the clock or Aligeri being pretty elusive after getting up I don't know. Plus they are too mainstream. As a hardcore fight fan there other cracking matchups I want to see happen rather than this drag out affair.

I don't think so. I am totally bored by all of this too. I have completely lost interest in this fight.

And if it did happen I will only end up watching it because people will ask for an opinion rather than for the enjoyment of seeing a big match up happen. I am much more excited about wanting to see Sergei Kovalev fight Adoonis Stevenson then Mayweather and Pacquiao.Tony1244 wrote:I don't think so. I am totally bored by all of this too. Re: Am I alone in thinking this......
Will the fight be what it was back in '09 had Manny not bowed out on the drug testing?
Not by a longshot.
But, this remains (at least on paper, if not reality) among the best matches that can be made in the sport.
Whatever frustration we may feel, there is no doubt in my mind that anyone who calls themselves a boxing fan will watch if the fight is made.
It will be history no matter how the fight actually unfolds.

Before the idiots start posting.
I feel similar. I would like to see it still but if I don't I don't care. I love both and have enjoyed many a night watching them in the past/over the years.
I appreciate and respect any man or boy who boxes in a ring be it professionally, ams, whatever... so know boxing will go on and I know there's many a great night to be enjoyed ahead of us.

My fights in addition to Kovalev-Stevenson would be a fight involving 2 out of 3 of these fighters: Wlad, Fury, Wilder. Also, couldn't Mayweather and GGG fight at some sort of catchweight? Jr. Middle?

While I can understand the business aspect of any fight not being all that entertaining for anyone & this fight having long since passed its best fresh by date, I'm still excited for this fight if it happens. Its a huge f#cking deal for the sport & anything thats huge for the sport I'm for.
I do think when it happens the odds are, unless Manny is able to make it competitive &/or win, it'll be anticlimactic for most watching it. So even though the hype of it is likely to be a letdown the build up to that letdown is gonna be a fun time for most fans or people into this fight.

My wishlist looks like this.
Keith Thurman v Kell Brook
Denis Lebedev v Marco Huck
Rigo v Carl Frampton.
Which are the stand outs for me.

Manny is "more likable" to the typical fool who believes politician's/rich people's/religious people's absolutely phony lives.
It's sad how the average person still doesn't understand the phrase "That's just for TV".

I think with Carl saying he'd be down for fighting Guillermo & Guillermo not having many options & Carl being the best one who seems to be wanting the fight I think there is a good chance we see this in 2015. I think I've heard something about Guillermo having a fight in Japan against some random or mandatory guy in the next couple months, but come summer...fingers crossed we get this fight.IRLangmaid25 wrote:My wishlist looks like this.

Which realistic fights would feature a higher level of ability? Which would be bigger events? Which would involve a more prominent rivalry?
They may not be at their peaks, but they're each still among the absolute best in the sport and the fight would be a huge event that would draw great attention to boxing.

Pacquiao is far from the typical phony rich person because he grew up poor in a third world country.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Manny is "more likable" to the typical fool who believes politician's/rich people's/religious people's absolutely phony lives.

No one who ever met him has a had a bad word to say about Pacquiao.
Only thing I dont like is bible thumping, but atleast he's not a phony like Al Sharpton, who uses the guise of his position to race bait and use the race card, dividing people.
Pac seems genuine in his belief and actually helps people, though his methods (handing out money, freebies) might be inefficient despite the intent.

People may be bored to death of the bullshit and jaded; but if this fight gets signed the interest will be nuts.

Re: Am I alone in thinking this......
Rigo is fighting Wake in a voluntary in summer by most accounts, if Wake wins his upcoming bout. Wake us certainly not the push over his record suggests. He's the guy Hearn tried to get for Quigg... Then backed out of claiming Wake had injured his ankle when Wake was posting training pictures of him jogging in Okinawa ...ReggieDiggs wrote:I think with Carl saying he'd be down for fighting Guillermo & Guillermo not having many options & Carl being the best one who seems to be wanting the fight I think there is a good chance we see this in 2015. Re: Am I alone in thinking this......
I think people quickly forgot history. Ray Leonard was a prima donna on levels Floyd & Miguel (the two guys most accused of being such a thing nowadays) would cringe over with Marvin Hagler & jerked him around for years about them fighting. Ray invited Marvin to a presser he threw about his career in 1982 that had Marvin & most of the media thinking Ray was going to announce he wanted to fight Marvin only to announce his retirement. They didn't fight til 1987. Idk how long Marvin & Ray was a fight people wanted to see, thats before my time, but it took at least 5 years for that to go down. Plus Ray didn't give Thomas a deserved rematch for 8 years. Maybe you can hype Duran, Hearns & Hagler as fight anyone on a dime type cats, but I don't think Ray really deserves to be mentioned with them even though he was a part of all those great fights.ClivePatrickLyons wrote:No your not I can't remember a fight contract dragging on like this has makes ya sick
