I like Ricky but I can see him getting smashed and won't enjoy watching it at all.

Like most here I think Burns would have handled him easily a couple of years ago, but going on recent form this can only end badly for Ricky.

Done deal by the looks of things:

http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/live-bo ... ime-279299

"On Saturday, May 9 Premier Boxing Champions returns to CBS for the second installment (4:30 p.m. ET/1:30 p.m. PT). This broadcast will pit undefeated Omar Figueroa, who recently vacated his Lightweight World Championship to move up in weight to 140 pounds, against former champion Ricky Burns."

Intresting start time of 4:30pm ET meaning it'll be on SKY Sports at 9:30pm UK time. No world title on the line then?

If there's no title and its at 140 I just don't see where the value here is for Burns. He can be getting paid that much.

I think Burns needs the money. All those "liquidated" purses.

There was a king's ransom put up a couple of times to fight Broner at 130 and 135 and it was turned down.

Now he is off to the states to fight a young baby-faced banger in Figueroa, with something like 18 KO's from 20 odd fights.

His last fight was a peach of a knockout, text book and bang on the chen.

his last fight was decent match and not all one sided against Daniel Estrada
Mitchell just dominated Estrada totally

its an intresting fight if burns is now "Stress Free" and able to do what he can or is Burns Really fell that far from grace.

Either way fair play for him taking this , i dont think Burns will be blasted out and will certainly give it his all.

I literally started cracking up at work after reading this; I can literally imagine Watt saying this.

Yes when I first heard this would be at 140lbs I thought it would be bad news for Burns. I thought he looked very un-athletic and soft at 140lbs. Maybe it's a last decent payday having missed previous paydays due to legal wranglings.

Nice Guy Eddie sending another one of his fighters over to America to lose. What a promoter!!!

Allegedly would not let that happen - home advantage is very important in Boxing.

Burns should be delighted that Eddie got him this opportunity, Ricky's at a stage in his career where he can't be turning down opportunities, he had a great chance to get back to winning ways at home against Zlaticanin, never took it,then he looked pedestrian against Lepelly last time out

Now he's got a shot at an unbeaten former world champion on US TV ,he'll be delighted,if Burns is serious about getting back to the top then Eddie's delivered something that Ricky claimed he wanted as a world champ,a fight in the States against a good name,Figueroa isn't mainstream but he's well known

Paddy Power have Burns priced at 11/2 against, they have Figueroa as a massive 1/12 favourite. Even with Burns recent run of poor form, that 11/2 is pretty appealing, Figueroa does not impress me, i'd expect an in-form Burns to take him.

With all due respect I disagree totally. Burns has had more gift decisions than Sven ottke. He beat a poor katsidas and Kevin Mitchell who blows hot and cold. IMO fig beats him easily at any stage of burns career

He's had precisely one gift decision.

Is the pay check going to get transferred straight to Warren's bank account?

Crazily, as a boxing fan, I would rather see British fighters actually fight world class opposition and lose abroad, than hide at home fighting inferior opposition. You know, what Joe Calzaghe is still, fairly, criticized for doing for so much of his reign.
