Bika to fight Stephenson for his WBC light heavy belt
Bika stepping up a division with the lure of a shot at Stephenson's title. Bika's a hard man but this is a tough call.
Re: Bika to fight Stephenson for his WBC light heavy belt
I think he'll get beaten convincingly. He won't have won a fight in nearly two years entering the bout, he looked poor in losing widely last time out and was hurt multiple times by Dirrell, and he just scraped by a limited opponent in Periban shortly before.......he's past his best in my view and now he'll have to deal with someone who is bigger, harder punching, and more skilled than himself. He doesn't have a puncher's chance either and I doubt his physical style will work as well against light heavyweights.

A very hard day at the office coming up for Bika. Up a division and not in the greatest of form lately either. He may go the distance but hard to see him winning.

Stephenson is a destructive force. That he is a southpaw just makes things that much more difficult for Bika.
Re: Bika to fight Stephenson for his WBC light heavy belt
It's good to see Bika getting another title shot/Pay day. Cant see him winning this but good luck to the warrior.
Re: Bika to fight Stephenson for his WBC light heavy belt
I like bika hard hard fighter, calzaghe had trouble with him years ago, so long over due his big payday!
Re: Bika to fight Stephenson for his WBC light heavy belt
Bika made $1+ million over his last two fights and earned $750k for winning The Contender, so he's had some big paydays.Rexob wrote:I like bika hard hard fighter, calzaghe had trouble with him years ago, so long over due his big payday!

Bika has had some decent paydays along the way and deserves them because he has been a warrior who would fight anyone any time.convict wrote:It's good to see Bika getting another title shot/Pay day. Cant see him winning this but good luck to the warrior.

Re: Bika to fight Stephenson for his WBC light heavy belt
Stevenson will climb through the ropes looking like a Cruiserweight come fight night.
Can't see Bika keeping his unstopped record intact in this one.
On the same card hard punching Russian Artur Beterbiev fights Gabriel Campillo over 10 rds.
18/4/15 California.
Julio Cesar Chavez is stepping in weight to fight Andrzej Fonfara.
When they fought 12 months ago Fonfara had Stevenson on the canvas in the ninth round after being down twice himself
earlier in the fight.
Light Heavyweight is a good division at the moment.

Re: Bika to fight Stephenson for his WBC light heavy belt
Gutsy effort by Bika.
Stevenson had him down in rounds 6 and 9 but Sakio hung in till the final bell
Scores 115-111 116-110 115-110.
Can't imagine Stevenson being in any hurry to fight either of the Russians, Kovalev or Beterbiev.
They both pack too much Kryptonite for the Black Superman.

Watched the fight, and thought the judges were rather generous to Bika. Think he won round 3 and a later round at Best.
Stephenson is no Superman, a left hand, but what a left hand. 1 dimensional and silly to allow him to Jab, jab, then left straight. Hence While Bike is a warrior, he lasted the 12, after really the first 7 lopsided rounds.
Damage was done by then.
Expect Kovalov to finish Stephenson in 6.

Re: Bika to fight Stephenson for his WBC light heavy belt
Can someone please enlighten me..a fighter loses a title fight then in his very next fight he fights for yet another title but in a heavier weight class. Que?
Re: Bika to fight Stephenson for his WBC light heavy belt
Agree on each point. There were only two rounds that I thought Bika had an argument for and the official scores were oddly close.Hounddawg wrote:Watched the fight, and thought the judges were rather generous to Bika. Think he won round 3 and a later round at Best.

Stevenson has a very good left but it's the same thing over and over and his right hand isn't much of a factor as a power punch. I think Kovalev has more tools and while Adonis's power makes him a serious threat I suspect that the Russian would pull through in that one.
Re: Bika to fight Stephenson for his WBC light heavy belt
Yeah boxing is a joke of a sport. What you have pointed out is a farse and should not happen. I wish boxing had a world wide overhaul and was run correctly but that will never happen unfortunately.bollox wrote:Can someone please enlighten me..a fighter loses a title fight then in his very next fight he fights for yet another title but in a heavier weight class. Yeah hardly seems worthy of a positive comment Francis.
I mean, life must be really shit for you mate, if you only come here to add the top ten negative comments of the day.
Haven't been around for a while, but if posts were measured in stocks, a share for Francis75 would be trading at$ 0.01.

What I posted is 100% true and you know it. It's a complete joke that a fighter can lose a title fight at 168 then in his next fight move up to 175 and fight for one of the main world titles.
I will always tell it how it is. There is nothing positive to say about that situation. It makes boxing look bad.
Re: Bika to fight Stephenson for his WBC light heavy belt
This sort of garbage is the exact reason I and countless others have gone off the sport. And here in the Oz section we seem to bury our heads in the sand more than elsewhere
Similar to when at the olympics someone gets done for using drugs...we hammer them. Then when one of ours is caught we give it a cursory comment then pretend it'll go away

Re: Bika to fight Stephenson for his WBC light heavy belt
My apologies to the Francis75.
What should be used more in the sport of boxing is discretion, in the case of Sakio Bika, as some with boxing knowledge have said, he's a warrior, in Australia better known as a road warrior, until yesterday never owned, did he deserve the shot, no one really argued the point because of the afore mentioned.
However boxing is know dead, because you say so, not because you wanted to regurgitate what others have been saying for the last few years.
To shed some light or to perhaps enlighten you, David Gyngel and Fenech have cut a deal for boxing to come back to free to air on a major network, starting with Dib vs Muira.
Pretty fornicating alive to me
