I know we have another thread on talking about this fight ourselves amongst people we know but i just wanted to see whether people have noticed any tv promotion of the Murray fight on 5 or seen anything on itv about the Frampton fight?
While it's great that they have the fights on, they always seem to underpromote the fights and just assume people will be watching. Is it just that we have got used to the hype that sky build for the fights or is it a case of the channels being happy to get a half decent audience based on word of mouth?
The maxi-nutrition tournament seemed badly advertised too.

I think the ship has sailed for terrestial boxing and their approach to cherry picking fights is not going to produce the results they think.
The kicker is that most people don't really watch freeview channels when they get home from work or on a Saturday night anymore.
The over 55's remain unchanged in their viewing habits (dropping slightly) but teenagers and early 20's don't particulary care for it as much as their parents did (Over 40's) and even those demographics are trailing off.
BBC remains the strongest of them all as they do a lot of propitiatory content themselves , but the rest scramble for an ever declining casual audience.
Young mums find nothing on there for their children, so have began growing out of the habit of following the soaps too.
Ten years ago, those freeview stations were a one stop shop for the whole family - but nowadays their content is rubbish or out of date, as viewers want the latest episodes and movies now, not 18 months down the line.
I'm pleased people will get to watch boxing for free, I just think it's too late in the day now as most fans have already subscriptions for the channels that do regularly broadcast it.
Also the freeview viewers will not know these fighters from Adam, as they have never been exposed to them before. So will the ratings be anywhere as good, in comparison to if these stations followed their last 10 fights ?
Recruiting new boxing fans from freeview is tough. Because those who are tuning in, know the fighters (and highly likely have subscriptions elsewhere anyway) - and the rest of the audience will be channel hoppers flicking through whom might happen to stop and watch it.

What would really stand everything on it's head, was if there was a streaming service. Smart Tv's, blu ray players, iPads, mobiles - can all watch streaming TV nowadays. And there are far more of them, than satellite or cable boxes.
An aggregate, that collects live fights from a host of different suppliers like HBO / Sky etc.
Obviously in countries where people are subscribers, the service is geographically blocked.
As far as payment, I believe that a token system would be great. 1 token = 30 mins.
That way, if a fight ends in one round, then the user can log off and still have time left. Likewise if an undercard is less appealing than the main event, then they can skip that and log in when the main fight happens.
The site splits the revenue with the person whom has the rights, (HBO / GBP or Sky / Matchroom) etc.
A token could last 200% longer for small hall shows, which would make them more attractive than regular broadcasts.

The Frampton fight isn't being badly advertised at all.
