Josh Warringtons Fans

Post by Alba »

i was in Berlin last weekend, and had seats near these guys. They were really showing themselfs up with constant singing about German bombers in the air, and ended up getting into a fight with some locals (or amongst themselfs possiblt) and the riot police turned up and moved them on...

why spend all your money to go to watch a fight and act like that? :witzend:

They WILL spoil it for him. I'm not bothering with the April show because of them.

Some of the support British fighters get is class and sets British boxing apart from pretty much anywhere else. Not many others can claim to have hundreds of travelling fans in 2 foreign destinations on one night. And the atmospheres at big fights including Brits rivals anything in world boxing.

However, there's no doubt in can be taken too far and some of the Leeds lot seem to have over-stepped the mark in Berlin. Absolute no need for the German bombers song, the Germans have rebuilt a great nation since then!

Leeds pricks,

Its ok him fighting at that Leeds arena while he's fighting fighters with no support but wait till he fights anyone with any sort of decent following and I guarantee it'll go off.

its good to see boxing getting popular but not if its going to attract idiots like this, im sure there are other boxers who attract this sort of crowd, but i have been going to boxing both home ans abroad for a few years and this is the worse i have seen . There was a guy who was in front of me with his two bairns and the youngest one was a bit scared by what was going on with the riot police and that ...

It's still surprising how many Brits don't know that we only played a supporting role in WW2 and would've been absolutely trounced by Germany had it not been for the Soviet Union and the USA.

Hoping for a couple of bites on that fishing rod your setting up there?

Someone earlier mentioned a fight with Selby, presumably if it were to happen it would be in Leeds. Would Selby actually take that much support? Genuine question, but I haven't sensed he has massive support. I saw him out in Belfast v Lindsay (and I know it was a while back and he's kicked on a lot since) but other than a handful of fans with a flag it looked like he had no support out there.

Alot of idiots jumping on the warrington bandwagon.

Alot of the old school leeds united hooligans have found its easier to find trouble at boxing than football and have latched on to it.

Depends. There's plenty of Cardiff football idiots always looking out for a fight with Leeds; there's a reasonable chance they'd latch onto the fight & try turning up in big numbers. Luckily, they're probably too stupid to actually get organised for anything outside of a football match.

Not 100% sure but the fact selby isnt headling shows in Wales says he isnt much of a ticket seller. Im sure if he was he wudnt keep being chief support on Matchroom shows all over the country .

At what point does Hearn condemn the fans causing trouble? He should release a statement worded well enough to not deter the well-behaved but also make it known that there's no place for antagonizing chants or violence outside of the ring.

I would agree with that if the fight was in Cardiff and they knew masses of Leeds were coming down (as they would for this). Traveling up there for a boxer who (as far as I know has never linked himself to the club - I know Cleverly did but don't think Selby has), you'd want to take some serious numbers up there if you were looking for a row. Think WYP would have something to say about it too, they didn't let Cleverly on the Warrington undercard because Cardiff are up at Leeds that day as I understand it.

Yeah I agree but he should also value the experience fans have when watching his fighters. An experience which can be ruined by idiots kicking off.

And keeping him away from Selby. He doesn't want either a riot or a defeat for Josh.

Unfortunately you always get a minority of idiots hellbent on making a total prick of themselves. There is usually a highly charged atmosphere at these events and it doesn't take much for some wall puncher to boot off then it just escalates! That incident on Sat in Sheffield was sad to see. I've four kids, two of em boys (7&6) who are keen to go to a show but it'll be a wee while yet til I'm comfortable taking em.

Not really. The Brits turned tail and ran (sensibly) in 1940, an act that was perhaps the most shameful moment in British military history and, even with 70 odd years of spin to try and turn Op Dynamo into some kind of genuine success, signified the end of Britain's tenure as a global superpower. From then on we were a junior partner in every sense.

It's not a minority. The vast majority are of the 'casual' variety. More tickets have gone on sale today, they've done 7,000 so far so have now opened top tier. A friend of mine has picked 50 up today, never been to a boxing match in his life.

I wouldn't even trust the ones I know getting through an all day session without some fall outs amongst themselves, let alone the rest of the them.
