Who will the ref be

Post by Pureist »

I really hope bayliss doesn't get the job, he ruined maidana mayweather 2, floyd will try and tie up pacquaio each time he comes in and bayliss will let him get away with it, the ref could have a big part in the outcome of this fight, thoughts?

people might not like it when one fighter ties up another but it's one of the first things a fighter learns to do, now there are some extreme cases like wlad v povetkkin i accept that, and most hatton fans are still convinced that cortez cost him the fight against mayweather, but pac should have the boxing brain to negate this and him and roach should be working on this scenario happening in camp, if a boxer falls into the trap he shouldn't be looking to the ref for help. refs aren't instructed to make sure that both fighters stand in the center of the ring throwing bombs.

Repeated holding should get warnings and points deductions if it persists, weeks made the first fight between floyd and maidana by not breaking them when floyd tried to tie him up, in the second fight bayliss broke them before they were holding in some instances, not allowing the fight to progress as it should have

Even Byrd, he doesn't interfere much, a good ref is one that you hardly notice in the ring

fine by you, talk about an over inflated sense of your own importance, maybe thats been the problem with getting this fight made over the years, i can just see it now, so thats everything agreed money, drug testing, venue, dates all sorted oh one last thing who's the ref, well it's x oh cant see boxerbeetle liking that, right ok fights off.

I don't think the ref will be a factor in this fight. Weeks and Bayless were one extreme to another with Floyd-Maidana 1 & 2. They need someone in-between those two. Neither Floyd nor Manny are known for being hard to ref or for keeping it clean. Guys like Khan and Maidana are nightmares to ref imo.

Rooting fpr Steve Smoger.

Won't be a difficult one too ref. Most refs have trouble lenalizing Floyds holding because
... well it seems the rules are different for Floyd.

Pacquiao isn't an inside rough houser though.

Either way it should be stopped straight away, punch out should be the first thing out of the refs mouth, pacquaio tends to throw inside, that's where he will want to be in the fight, floyd will want him at the end of his jab, floyd doesn't like being cramped, maidana did a great job of showing that in the first fight by dragging floyd into a brawl, that's what will make the fight exciting as long as the ref does his job properly
