What's up with Roman Gonzalez's next fight?

Post by GL14 »

He fights Valentin Leon (who has a record of 38 wins (21 wins coming by way of KO), 28 losses (16 by way of stoppage) & 3 draws) this Saturday in Nicaragua and it doesn't appear to be a title defense. Don't get why this match was made

He's had these types of bouts before. It seems to me like they're to keep him active and making some money, which can be hard to come by in the lower divisions (fighters can't afford to sit around as much). I thought Edgar Sosa was being mentioned as an opponent for Roman following the Fuentes win, but maybe there were problems finalizing a challenger.

It's a freebie for the local fans. They had tried to get someone else bit couldn't afford the pay, think it was Tyson Marquez.

Free fight for local fans and a stay busy contest... It's bad on paper but a chance for Nicaraguan fans to see him. I suspect he'll fit in another 3 or 4 bouts this year including a mandatory and an Inoue bout...
